Group B - Bangladesh, Bermuda, India, Sri Lanka

I've calculated India's NRR and it comes out to be 2.54 after 2 matches.
Your calculation is incorrect. :D India's NRR is +2.507, which has been confirmed by Cricinfo. :)

How does that rank amongst Bangla and SRL?
Bangla is +0.139 and Sri Lanka is +4.860. Sri Lanka's should go down and if they beat Bangladesh, Bangla's should go down as well.

If Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh, we need them to beat them badly.
If Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka, we're set for a knockout game.

Standings so far:

Team Matches Won Lost RR
SRL 1 1 0 +4.860
IND 2 1 1 +2.507
BAN 1 1 0 +0.139

Not going to bother posting BRM...

Which is a better option for us?
Bare in mind that Bangla are yet to play BMR

India will need to bowl better than this if they want to beat Sri Lanka but i suppose if you bat like that you can bowl as badly as you like

Ummm... I would prefer if Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka because then we would decide our fate in the final game. But something tells me its better to put most of my eggs in Sri Lanka's basket because they should be the dominant team. I don't know. I'll be confused come Wednesday. Friday should be a snapper of a game, though.

Haha, true. But I don't think we can pull out such a batting performance against tried and tested international bowlers. Tendulkar looked really good down the order. Obviously, though, the Bermudan bowlers did not know how to react to the heavy hitting.

yeah Tendulkars not a bad number 6 ;) I think the real test for tendulkar will be if he comes up against Murali

Guyz is ind still alive in da tourna? i mean if they beat srl will they go through?

It all depends on the match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. What happens in that match will have a huge bearing on how easy India's entry into the Super 8's will be after beating Sri Lanka (if we dont beat SL, we go home).

But I feel after the SL-Ban match, India might be in a good position. If SL dont win by a convincing margin, they will be very close to India's run rate. If SL win by a convincing margin, Bangladesh's run rate would suffer quite some much that they will find it very hard against Bermuda to win convincingly and enter the Super 8's.

I dont know who to root for when the Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh match comes. if Sri Lanka win, then Bangladesh will know what to do in the final game of the group. If Bangladesh win and if we get to the Super 8's with Bangladesh, we wont carry forward any points (because we lost to Bangladesh).

It comes down to this. India lost to Bangladesh in a close game. India pasted Bermuda more thoroughly than Sri Lanka did and Bangladesh will (assumption). Thus what matters is how close the matches are between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, since India already have an advantage over Bangladesh (in terms of the Bermuda game). I think we should suspend all NRR calculations till Wednesday, when there will be just two games, involving 4 different countries, left. :)

I'd rather Bangladesh wins and we don't carry forward any points. I think India would too, because then they would have the deal settled on Friday evening.

If they play the way they did against us, charging down the track and smashing those 6's, I think they'll win convincingly.
But, maybe they'll be under pressure, because they have this burden that they have never had-an expectation to win. This pressure might cause them to play within themselves-Causing them to play as India did against Ban. 90% they'll win, maybe push that up to a 98, but maybe not so convincingly.
Good news for us after this much needed huge win.

God, Bermuda has been nice. I really thought the toss would be the whole game, and if they had elected to bat first then our 2007 trip to the Caribbean would be toast. But they just gave us an invitation to bat, and i thank them sincerely for that. After I came home from school the first question I asked was "Who won the toss??" My mom said "Bermuda..but" but before she could finish her sentence I slapped my forehead. Then: "Bermuda-But they fielded first and India hit 413!! :)" She told me the details on how-to us-unfortunate it was for Sehwag to hit a century (We're big KKD fans in our house, not so much Viru) I don't know why I said all these extra details, lol, but IDK.
Once again thanks to Bermuda for letting us bat first- We really, really, really really, needed that

:D

Basically; i.e. if you discount Bangladesh's ability to pull a destructive demolition against Bermuda.

God-2 nights i've had nightmares of BRM winning to toss and batting, and Bangla absolutly killing BRM-no joke.
I literally woke myself up screaming "NO!" last night-:S
Too much stress, and too much cricket, eh?

I m really surprised that Sreesanth is not playing  Agarkar still there :p
