Group B - Bangladesh, Bermuda, India, Sri Lanka

No one is saying Bangladesh is a superpower, but they look the best that they have since they started playing cricket and one can definitely say that this is their best chance to put in a great performance in the World Cup.

Not much since that we're getting free plane tics there (Miles).
Anyways, its None of your business, but the Tickets for the match are 90 dollars each.

Will people in India watch the match of Sri Lanka against Bangladesh? I am expecting Sri Lanka to win, but I thought the same that India would win in the previous match against Bangladesh.

I think Sri Lanka will beat them comfortably. Bangladesh just caught India napping. India didnt actually have the right warm up. Netherlands were pushed over, and West Indies surprisingly rolled themselves over. So even though Dravid claimed that Bangladesh wont be taken lightly, they actually WERE!

Sri Lanka might not do the same thing.

I am planning to watch the game, because its crucial to India's qualification prospects. I am actually eager for the rest of this damn group's matches to unfold. And obviously, cant wait for march 23rd. probably i wont sleep march 22nd night!

Tomorrow's a big day for India, even if they don't play. After tomorrow, we will clearly know two things:

1) If the loss to Bangladesh was a one-off.
2) What we need to do to give us the best chance to qualify, against Sri Lanka.

Oh come on! He was asking it in curiosity. I thought ur answer was rude!

Good luck man. My mom's employer is also coming to the game. I should have tried coming for this game. It promises to be one of the most thrilling encounters. Both teams would be playing out of their skins in this game. Major players would be Sanath Jayasuriya and Sachin Tendulkar. For these two guys, this World Cup matters the most, and they raise the game by several notches in big situations!

Yes, I completely agree. A more clear picture would arrive at the end of tomorrow's game!

^ In my opinion, India's non-mathematical chances in the World Cup after thrashing Bermuda didn't really change all that much.

No I think that now Indians are much more confident for their performance in world cup 2007. They are going to use their best efforts to win the world cup. We can say India as an superpower

To which match is Cricketman93 going? For Sri Lanka vs India?

I'm not going to argue the point that India is a superpower because it's far too tedious, but beating Bermuda by no means shows that we are a superpower.

beating Bermuda is by no means a great achievement but i think our players might hav realised that they hav a job to do

Todays match is very important.Lets see who wins and whats the margin of victory.I think Sri Lanka will win it.

Yes, that would be it.

I did some predictive calculations on my NRR spreadsheet and I found that even if the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh game is close, India would only have to beat Sri Lanka to go on to the next round (close or otherwise). If we assume Sri Lanka win a close, high-scoring game, Bangla's NRR will still be almost 2.5 runs below India's. If they have a medium-score close game, NRR of Bangla will be slightly higher (but not adversely, for India, so). Thus, Bangla want a high-scoring game tomorrow.

Now, if India and Sri Lanka have a close, high-scoring game, then India and Sri Lanka will have around the same NRR, in between 1 and 2. This would be about a run higher than Bangladesh. By this token, Bangladesh would have to absolutely smash Bermuda to qualify with a higher NRR than India. Their best hope would be to bat first and put up about 350 and then bowl Bermuda out for under 100.

Of course, all these are just inaccurate predictions; tomorrow should clear it up quite a bit. Also, I'm attaching an updated NRR spreadsheet, because the one I had earlier contained a glaring mistake, involving India's NRR!
