His bowling likely to be irritating for opponent on these typical Windies conditions.. But is his injury big that he wud miss Friday's game?

I hope not :( , he will be back in friday's game and will continue his unfinished game of tonight ;)

Jayasuriya just retired hurt, not good for the indians as he is the destroyer in the Sri Lanka team. Although he could be saving himself for the death where he could be menacing.
Isn't it good for India if Jayasuriya is injured?

Seriously I expect Bangla to win this.. Becos if it happens, then it wud be a qualifier match between India & Lanka ;) But it seems unlikely though now... Lets see!

I am actually rooting for Sri Lanka now.

The above article says that if India beat Sri Lanka, they are almost assured of a Super 8 slot (the third scenario mentioned is the toughest, but still cant expect Bangladesh to beat Bermuda by 300 runs).

And if Sri Lanka get into the Super 8, its beneficial for us because it gives us two points into the Super 8 and could make our path to the semis easier. And if Sri Lanka get in with us, it would make it tougher for the other teams coming into the Super 8 to beat Sri Lanka than beating Bangladesh. Australia and/or South Africa could even lose to Sri Lanka on these WI wickets.

So its in our long term interests that we root for Sri Lanka here! We can still get into the Super 8. We have to beat Sri Lanka. but I want a Sri Lankan win here!

Actually, it is good for India that Jayasuriya is injured. He can be the dangerman against India (he has most often been!). And his irritating bowling can also be a roadblock for us. So it might be good for us if Jayasuriya is injured and doesnt play against us.

Obviously, you cant be so sure of Bangladesh not beating Bermuda by 300 runs.
Bermuda's got a captain who can take weird decisions.
Yes,but the probabiltity of them beating Bermuda by 300 is 1/10.

I just wanna see the Banglas out of the cup.Or,we should get yet another match agaisnt them.

Btw,Jayasuriya's injury can be a big blow to Sri Lanka.
But,i feel that both India and Lanka will qualify for the S-8,given Bangladesh's poor show today.

I used Sohum's Spreadsheet for the possible scenarios for Group two.

Scenario 1:

If Sri Lanka score 320 today and Bangladesh score 265 and India beat Sri Lanka by 1 run, then Bangladesh either have to beat Bermuda by 296 runs or more (they cant get their run rate above India by chasing, because if Bermuda bat first and score 100 runs, Bangladesh have to score 101 in 0 overs).

Its going to be hell tight for Bangladesh if India beat Sri Lanka and if Sri Lanka beat them by more than 50 runs!

That article is very interesting.... But u knw, i am expecting even bigger win than the first scenario of 75 runs.. Something like 100-150 margin! In other words,India should dominate! If India win by dominating manner, it not only help them to go pass Super8 but also will boost the confidence level to perfom well in Super8 especially against Aussies ( I believe India wud go pass Super8 ) :)

Another magnificent hundered by Jayasuriya :happy

Sri Lanka look in awesome form, shame to Jayasuriya not make it a big 100 though

Ok, here is something which i was wondering how Lankans are favourite among many members inspite of these,

In 1999 WCup : India beat Lankans by 157 Runs.

In 2003 WCup : India beat Lankans by 183 Runs.

Also, if i remember right In last 10 ODIs between India and Lanka, Lankans managed to win only 2 of them.

So hope India's 150+ runs victory over Lankans continue in this WCup also ;)

Silva looks like a good one for the future, he has been playing great cricket since he got back into the squad against NZ.

Sri Lanka are favourites because they are a better bowling side than India and their batting is still very good

Those stats don't matter that much, at a World Cup anything can happen. Whoever plays better on the day will win, simple.

I somehow doubt that the picture would not clear up by much after today's match. It could be as much confusing as it was before!

No way! India are in as good form as Sri Lanka. They have had the wood over Sri lanka in the last few games (Played: 10, India: 8, Sri Lanka: 2). In the World Cup, India have won both their matches against Sri Lanka in the last two editions.

So India are favorites! They have already had the shock defeat against Bangladesh which would have shook them no end. So they will be doubly determined to win and get into the Super 8.

WOW, Vaas is reall class.(yea like that one ;) ) the line and length he keeps is absolutely amazing puts him up there with the best bowlers in the world and he will also be leaving cricket after the cup, another great gone.

saisrini- in this world cup Sri lankas bowling has been better than Indias, but trying to figure which one of the 2 sides is better is really hard as both sides are playing their best cricket.

If and only if we can get the team combination right.
