Group B - Bangladesh, Bermuda, India, Sri Lanka

Well this result hasn't changed too much, either way the SL v India game was going to be important and an absolute ripper. Form wise Sri Lanka should send India packing out of the WC but India will be determined not to go out in round 1.

Its raining sixes in this worldcup, my prediction Dhoni will murderer lankan spinners he loves going after them.

The key lies with how much damage the pacers can do for Lanka, in my opinion. I think if the pacers are not able to get rid of our top/middle order, we will be able to put enough on the board to stifle the Sri Lankan batsmen. However, if Vaas and Malinga make those important early breakthroughs--Maharoof can prove to be a handful and obviously the spinners will be left to deal with the lower-middle order and tail.

Also, India-Sri Lanka has now basically become a qualification match for India. If we win it, Bangladesh will have to beat the impossible to come through. How impossible?

Something like scoring 400 and bowling the Bermudans out for 0 would get them close, but not necessarily through. Therefore, India need to pull a rabbit out of their bag so that they can get some breathing space in the Super 8.

India need to chase as all matches start in the morning and so there is movement (dew) in the pitch + with such depth in their batting, chasing is suited for them.

It will be a close match going down to the wire.
But India will win.
Hope Jayasuriya doesnt play well in the match. But still you have Jayawardena and Sangakarra.
India need a magical performance like the one in 2003 at Johannesburg against Sri Lanka.

yeah India should definately chase also considering that our bowlers are not in form

And what if they get themselves a target like the one they had in the last World Cup Final ?

So India's chances could hinge on that toss? Lose it and they will be facing Vaas, Malinga and Maharoof in seaming conditions.

Theoretically, yes. I think we will be more troubled by their seamers than their spinners. If the conditions are overcast, I would pick Pathan and insert Lanka in. Pathan is a very useful bowler in conditions that are tailor-made for him. Not so much in all other circumstances. :p

Yea I would think you guys would go just fine against Murali unlike other teams like the Aussies. Definitely would play Pathan for bowler friendly conditions he should prove a handful and then adds to the batting depth. Of course risk will be if SL win the toss and then you have Pathan in probably non bowling friendly conditions.

Playing Pathan would be too risky IMO, because if India bats first and loose few early wickets then their batting might be exposed (assuming he'll be in the side for a batsman) and considering the conditions out there in Trinidad, this is very much a possibility.

Hmm... it's tricky. The only person I'd switch Pathan in for, at this stage, is Sehwag or Uthappa. Because I simply don't have the confidence in his bowling. Unless it's a nice green pitch and grey overhead. :p

India has always played well against SL @ Neutral venues. That will be one advantage India has.
