I think this was unnecessarily brought up by Lalit Modi. An investment firm will have its money across verticals and that is a given. Furthermore, CVC having a stake in a betting firm in England (where it is legal) shouldnt attract so much controversy. By that logic, Punjab ,Rajasthan and Chennai should be banned for life :)

Its unfortunate the BCCI does not have a performance guarantee system. Else we would have seen the likes of RCB, Punjab and RR getting kicked out from the league.

For Adani to come in, they simply have to pick up stake in one of the existing 10 franchisees OR wait it out for 3/4 years more- cause I am 100% sure the board will put up more cities for auction.

Its very tricky to implement such a system. Companies own franchises in the league to make profits. If you kick them out after a certain period due to performance, investors won't show interest in owning teams. This model is purely based on business and that's why quite a few teams continue to keep smiling even while their team is performing bad across many years. For e.g. RCB must be making lots of money despite its inability to win a trophy in the history of IPL.

It does seem as though they have tackled all legal aspects here and that CVC Capital would end up being the rightful owners of the Ahmedabad franchisee. In light of that a few appointments have been made and they are interesting AF

Ashish Nehra as Head Coach and former English opener Vikram Solanki as Director of Cricket. A highly surprising move considering they had wildly flirted with onboarding Ravi Shastri and Bharat Arun earlier on.

Ashish Nehra? The same bloke at RCB?

Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill are set to join Ahmedabad

Interesting choice there to pick Shubman Gill! Guess he's not going to Punjab Kings after all (as many were predicting).

Why not give Gill the leadership? Pandya, is a weird choice, unless they feel he resonates with the city. (which I doubt)
