About a year back, I picked up an issue of Men's Health, which had a running programme in it designed to get pretty much any guy out there to running 30 minutes non stop (at least). I'm now doing about 3.5 miles three times a week (just over ten miles a week, I'm aiming for twenty) - and I've got my Total Trainer 2000 out again:

so unlike before, when I was just doing strength training on the TT2000, I've now added in a decent amount of cardio, so I'm expecting to get better results than I did before. :)

Fantastic machine, you can do pretty much any exercise you care to think of and it has ten levels of resistance, so it'll be a while before you begin to 'outgrow' it and even when you do, you can either add more reps, or stick some free weights on the bar that comes with it. So what I'm doing now is about an hour on that (alternating between upper and lower body for each workout with a day's rest inbetween to allow for muscle recuperation/growth) and then a 3.5 mile run straight afterwards. I'm in my mid thirties, but I've never felt so fit and hopefully before too long, my body will reflect that (still some excess that needs to go. ;) ) I don't want to pack on loads of muscle, just a bit - and get better definition. Y'know, look more athletic. ;)
lol. I am trying to live in the legacy of zyzz. RIP at only 22. seriously my ideal body (no homo)

Just got a kayak, so Ima see how that works out for exercise. Figured I'd put in about a mile down river from my fishing spot, kayak to and fish and kayak back to the car when I'm done. Good upperbody workout for sure

I started working out again yesterday to get my six-pack back. I am around 110-115 lbs and am looking to put on more weight starting next month.

Was about 140 lbs when I started uni in September last year. I'm closing in on 170 now (167-68). I'm not going to lie and say I don't want to be huge. I do, but it's too much effort and takes too much time. I do have a decent work ethic though and always go 5 days a week no matter what.

Bro, at that weight i would suggest that you bulk (build muscle) first and attempt to reach 140-150 before cutting (stripping the fat) wanting to get six-pack abs. Plenty of Squats, Deadlifts, Bench & Pullups, whilst eating 5-6 meals a day. In addition to having a fair amount of protein and high amount of carbohydrates in each meal. Forget about the fat. You can lose that later. :)

anyone else into working out? been lifting for almost a year but i mainly mucked around. Been serious for 5 months now.

Turned 17 2 months ago btw

If you just turned 17 2 months ago, then you definitely have the potential to be fairly jacked by age 19 or so. Just keep training hard bro! :)

@ cricketdude.

You ever met him personally?

No but I watched his troll videos, look on his facebook page, formspring etc. Also my friend has met him lol

I would say for him to bulk up 170-180lb then cut. but yeah he is way too skinny.

It doesn't though. If you just want to get big then do the big compound exercises and they will take less time. But if you don't enjoy it then don't do it.

Do you guys find that when you go for a run (those of you that do), if you just leave the house and go wherever, you enjoy it more and end up going for longer than if you just do a set route? I did that today and ended up doing about four miles - usually do about three. :)

kayaked about 2 miles yesterday, can barely move my arms today

Wow - that's one hell of an upper body workout there - no wonder you've become The Tin Man today. :) Muscle soreness is natural of course, but you shouldn't experience actual pain.

As the TT2000's manual says: 'No pain no gain' should be changed to 'if it hurts, it could be harmful'.

was fun though, thats key to exercise. That's why I can't run anymore, I just hate it. But kayaking up and down a river that runs through downtown while doing a little fishing is something I can get with

Fair enough. :) I'll admit, I can get bored of running if I do the same route all the time, so today I just left the house and as I said, just went anywhere and ended up doing about a mile more than my average. :)

Edit: You're right though - exercise needs to be fun, you need to enjoy it. If you don't you won't keep up with it and that's all there is to it, eh? Personally, I just love putting on the Rocky training music playlist on my PC while working out - and it's 'fun' to see what you look like when you're pumped. Then when I'm done with that, it's out to pound the streets. :)

I don't think you absolutely have to enjoy it. I don't enjoy it. In fact, I do it as a chore, but I've put on 30lbs so it's not as if it doesn't work. It takes more willpower than I have in anything else to be able to go 5 days a week even though I don't want to. It's all about willpower. I hate working out but I make it a point to do it anyway.

It can definitely get like that some days, but of course if you can find a way to enjoy it, you're bound to stick with it longer. Although if you're getting visible results, that's a good incentive as well.

30lbs, you say? How long did that take - and we are of course talking 30lbs of muscle? :D :p

Haha, it took about 6-7 months. Still trying to gain another 10 pounds but I've sort of plateaued over the last few months.

Has anybody tried P90X? Mark? Grueling stuff.
