Hey guys my game has been doing strange sutff since yesterday, it gave me a message yesterday saying, clean your disk with a soft cloth which I did but now, whenever I put the disc in, it doesn't read it but gives "open tray" as if I didn't put the disc in, is there a problem with my CD or is it with my 360, if it is with the CD then I can do nothing since I bought it online so I can'y return it. If it is with my 360, then I can change it cause I have the guarentee thing for 1 year. ;) please help. BTW I tried playing Saints Row and it worked fine for a while before freezing on one point.

I cleaned it with a soft cloth, you know kind of like the cloth you use to clean glasses... And I cleaned the back of the CD.

I think he meant the technique. Make sure your disc isnt scratched, that could be one of the reasons why its not working

Nah, My disk is pretty clean from behind but what kind of scratches do you mean, Do you mean big scratches, clearly visible to the eye, or little scratches for which you have to turn the disk a little and those kind of things to see the scratch. If big then No I don't have scratches, if small then yes I have one or two but I don't really qualify those as scratches since I have had those kind of scratches on PS2 games and they work fine. Oh and my XBOX 360 makes wierdy noise while playing a game for about 30 mins if this helps...
And John Adams, I'll try the third one after I return from school. will be like 3:30 GMT.

Edit: I'm just about to leave for school now, cya later guys and thanks for the trying to help me. :cheers

Always clean your disks from the centre outwards not round the disc and never in small circles ALWAYS from the centre hole outwards and do this all the way around. My mate bought a 360 2 months ago from GAME and his began to mess up like yours. His also began to make scratchy noises and it turned out his laser had gone. He took it back and they put in a new laser. Sometimes the laser goes so I'd take it to your shop and either get a new one or get it repaired. Also don't play anymore games on it as they may result in being scratched and become unplayable. Most likely the laser issue. Also do you keep your X-Box 360 on its side? (Like standing up veritcally not on its base?) if so then stop doing that because the man in the shop said that when its in that position it will eventually crush the components inside or something. Hope I helped!

Looking around the internet this seems to be a common but strange problem. Some clean there disks, and then its fine. Others and the laser is gone or there is a similar problem, and they need to get it fixed. Your best bet is to get it checked out.

Yeah I'll get it checked rather than risking my games. lol. thanks for the help khan31. But wait, if it ain't reading my Brian Lara cricket at all now, that means that my game won't work anymore or what?
I live in Switzerland and they don't sell cricket games over here. SO if my game is "finished" then I can't buy a new one...

You could try an audio cleaning cd, get a decent one that comes with a bottle of cleaning solution, it might just be dust on the reading head.

Secondly, the best way to polish a disc is not as Khan suggests but instead use small circular movements. If discs are scratched you can get cd restorer polish, with this you can polish out small scratches but it wont help with major ones.

Contact the website about it. Play.com are especially good with returned games.

I bought it form Amazon.com and it said that I can only return it in 7 working days from when I got the game... I got the game 2 weeks ago.

If its that new the chances are it isnt the games but its the laser in the drive thats defective/dirty.
