Just been in to check Ravi Bopara's bowling stats in ODIs and the screen has changed. It seems they now have T20 stats!

HowSTAT! Player List

I know the jury is still out for a lot of cricket fans as to whether it is or isn't cricket, but I find howstat a lot more to the point for stats related to internationals so this is good news - in as far as stats about T20 go that is

There is a major flaw though, you now can't click straight into the relevant screen directly from a country list. From country lists you can now only click into the player name and that takes you to the Test stats first, if they have such stats. Before you could select ODIs or Tests as well as tick the box "current players only"

They have Bangladesh above Pakistan and West Indies in their test rankings :laugh

Bangladesh did beat West Indies didn't they, on West Indian soil. Must say it is rather odd considering a much quoted statistic recently that Bangladesh's ODI win over England was their first in something like 24 international matches this year or something like that

1. Only matches for past 5 years from current date are taken into account.
2. An analysis of past results shows that winning away is 50% more difficult than winning at home. Therefore 3 points are awarded for away match wins, while 2 points are awarded for a home match win.
3. Winning a series away earns a bonus 3 points, while winning a series at home earns a bonus 2 points. See 2 above.
Note: Two or more matches must be played to constitute a series - one-off tests are not counted as a series.
4. For each year after the current year, points earned are deprecated by 20%. (e.g. for a result between 1 to 2 years ago points are deprecated by 20%, for a result between 4 and 5 years ago points are deprecated by 80%).
5. Points from a series (i.e. 2 or more matches) between two countries in a given country replace the points for the previous series between the countries in the same country.
For one-off tests, points do not replace those from an earlier series, but are cumulative. This means that a country which has earned points from a previous series win, is not penalised for subsequently losing a one-off test against the same opponent at the same venue.
6. As some countries play a lot more test matches than other countries, a weighting system is applied by dividing the total points earned (during the past 5 years) by the number of matches played by the country during that time. The resulting value is multiplied by 100 to give the HowSTAT rating.
Example: In a given 5 year period Sri Lanka has earned 28.00 points and played 36 matches during this time. 28.00 divided by 36 multiplied by 100 gives them a HowSTAT rating of 77.78.

HowSTAT! Test Rankings Explained

I can't be ar sed to check the ratings for the two countries based on results over that many years, but Bangladesh have only ever won like three Tests so I find that very hard to swallow. With any rating or ranking system, you have to test it rigorously and this one fails the most basic 'eyes open, brain switched on' test

Well other than that little oversight, I've found it to be a really good site. I really do like the graphs they have. Nifty little feature to see how a player has progressed (or not).

I find it more compact than cricinfo, you go on there to look at stats and they are indexed without having to search or plough through three hundred screens to find out someone's average or SR or DOB!

Shame they can't split out Morgan's ODI stats, at least I'm sure last time I looked his career just shifts from Ireland to England with no regard for the split. It distorts his batting average.

They did have Gavin Hamilton down as (current) England as well. It for me is #1 stats site, anyone wanting more stats than that site provides truly deserves an anorak.

Yep, Statsguru is good but it's too clunky, way too many options. Good if you really want to get into the nitty gritty but for quick look up of stats way too complicated. Howstat is much cleaner.
