Wow. This was surreal. This was incredible. This was pretty much every synonym for those two words that existed.
This was, in short, tweaking Awesome. I sank down into the sofa behind me, and with a stunned look on my face went back over the phone call I'd just received.
I hadn't been too surprised when I heard Greg Chappel's voice over the phone. I'd been around and about the Victorians U-17 development squad for about a year now, my performances for the Seagulls had earnt me a spot.
And of course, there was the rookie state contract.......
I hadn't been expecting the reason for his call however. It went something like this

"Hello?"
"Hey Gajan, it's Greg Shipperd. How's it going mate?"
"Um, yeah pretty good. Enjoying the lay off from exams."
"Good to hear mate. Anyway, you're probably wondering why I called?"
"Yeah....."
"Well, we've got our game against the Indian team this week, and I've been told by the selectors to choose one of the rookies for the game...."
"Oh"
"....and I've decided to go with you. That is, if you're not going away for the holidays"
"Um no, I um yeah I, I'll be here."
"So, does that mean you want the place?"
"Yeah, definitely."
"Ok, I'll get letter sent to you with more info. By the way, we're training tomorrow at the Junction Oval, be there at 9:00 AM."
"Will do Ship"
