ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Yes, and you're our moral science teacher handing us character certificates.

Do you have any point to make or you're just trying to make yourself feel important here?
Firstly, unlike You, I don't lash out at a person for quoting a post that wasn't directed towards him. I don't call a team who has admittedly been the most improved team undeserving of a semi-final spot, I don't get offended by a John Cena meme.

All I did was post that meme as a joke, and You called me delusional for that? Now, You are insinuating that was just a failed try to make myself feel important here? What's wrong with You?

@kushal17 I am not replying you in rethorical way. But telling you and other people who think Cricket is only made for Austrlia, England, India etc.

All teams represent their nations. Bangladesh have/most likely will go to the semi's. They've beaten New Zealand fair and square and they deserve it!

Every team has it's peek and downfall. Pakistan and Sri Lanka have contributed a lot to Cricket. Don't judge teams on the basis of a tournament or recent few years.

Do you think the CA contracts have any bearing on the way Australia have played?[DOUBLEPOST=1497114047][/DOUBLEPOST]

That's a mere excuse at this point. Being professionals, one would expect them to keep that aside while playing. As recently as 2016, West Indies showed that it is possible to use contract uncertainties as a motivational tool to unite the team and win a trophy. Australia were outclassed today, got to learn from it and move on.

Extraordinary stuff from Stokes-Morgan. Tough luck Australia. Didn't get a chance to properly crash out. They'd definitely feel the rain robbed them of the SF spot and rightly so.

Oh wow! What an intelligent post! Are you just plain daft?

Bangladesh don't deserve to be in the knockouts and it's the ICC rain roulette that might result in them doing so.

We get cricket with 'context' few and far in between. This tournament if it exists at all doesn't need to have the bogus planning it has. It needs a short tournament with only teams that matter. I for one believe having associates play the WC is boring to death. It needs to be 10 teams with each playing the other once and then an IPL style playoff's.

These events are supposed to have meaning and value and not a trip to Las Vegas to win some jackpot!

so u can give character certificate but others can't...if it was for u cricket will be limited to top 7-8 countries..what a great cricket fan u r :clap:clap

I for one believe having associates play the WC is boring to death. It needs to be 10 teams with each playing the other once and then an IPL style playoff's.

Do you even understand what the point of a "World" Cup is? It's supposed to be an inclusive tournament, where the lower ranked test teams and the associates get the opportunity to gain experience by playing against the top guns. It can be a breakthrough tournament for players and teams alike. Limiting a tournament like that limits the outreach of the sport, and doing it for the sake of a few teams' condescension is just snobbery plain and simple. It's like taking out people from life support to charge your smartphone.

I liked the 2007 World Cup format with 16 teams and the Super 8s. If the 8 teams are good enough to think playing the lower ranked sides is beneath them, they shouldn't have to worry about losing to them at all. The 14 team format isn't bad either, but anything shorter just hinders the sport as a whole and shouldn't be done. An 8 team Champions Trophy is great for that "swordfight" that stronger teams seem to want so badly. It's a pool where it has so far been proven that almost anyone can beat anyone (yes, surprise surprise, even outside the Top 5) and it's about as competitive of a tournament as you'll get.

We are in the Semi Final :) :ban:
Great victory by :eng:/(where is the welsh flag??).
Condolence to :aus:,they were unlucky(due to rain) in the match against BD.

Well i am certainly not in favor of what Sehwag said about Pakistan (even if it supposed to meant as a troll or something ) but if you talk about cricketing terms i am here all day to defend Sehwag who averaged 91 in 9 test matches against Pakistan. So you telling a single performance of him is an absolute lame.

There has never been a question on Sehwag's cricketing ability when he was the player. Similarly, There hasn't been a question on Pakistan's top bowlers capabilities and the side Pakistan has been and is. However, Sehwag was never Invincible for Pakistan relatively. He played well with his limitations. Anyhow, Thats a separate topic altogether.

Australia has been the most unlucky throughout the tournament. On Cricketing abilities, They deserved the spot in semis or having a tough competition against Newzeland. Rain has demolished the entire tournament for them. I'd blame ICC for that to organize the tournament in such season. While, I am not in favor of indoor cricket because I feel that Rain is the beauty of Cricket but not wash-outs.... But there is no Question on Bangladesh hardwork too. They deserved yesterday's victory and boy they have earned it. We should remember the early 90's era with SL was like an associate side and no one would have thought that SL would be among Top 5 Cricketing sides few years later. Bangladesh has that same capability. They posses talent. Have learnt immensely and maybe their first class structure has improved a lot over the years that they are producing good players.

For tomorrow's Game, SA does choke in all-important matches, On paper I feel India can go through, They need to bat really hard though because of their bowling. I wonder why Ashwin hasn't played yet. On SA, Sadly Devillars seems a bit lost.... I'd prefer Faf to take over the ODI captaincy as well in the future tours..

Somehow feel tomorrow could be an important game for maybe Yuvraj, but more than likely, MS Dhoni. A game that could decide their future in international cricket. Remember Dhoni did mention that he will re-assess his career after the Champions Trophy. If India exit tomorrow, will Dhoni bring down the curtains so that it gives Rishabh Pant or whoever else a solid 2 years before 2019 World Cup? Or will he prolong his career in order to play the 2019 WC where he will have to rely on IPL and a lot of domestic cricket to keep himself match fit?

I love Dhoni and am a huge fan of the guy, but I am starting to feel that this is maybe the time for him (after this tournament ends) to take the hard decision and go down a path that not many Indian greats have done (i.e. retire when asked 'why'). From a team perspective, Dhoni has become an accumulator who does not connect his big hits as well as he used to in his heydays (hardcore Dhoni fanatics would have felt insulted when Pandya came out to bat against Pakistan ahead of Dhoni). With the team composition, Dhoni is also not someone who can be batted any higher than No. 4. This leaves India with an accumulator who will have to bat in the late middle overs and death overs where if the big hits don't connect, India will be in trouble. Will Dhoni think about this and say "yes it's time?". I would really grow in respect of him even further if he does. I personally feel "it's time" and the show has to go on.

Champions Trophy should be between 5 times, league style. Pakistan, SL and Bangladesh just aren't in the league of the top 5 teams. Dare I say, Bangladesh are better than PAK and SL.

Game ON hai will be a lot of fun![DOUBLEPOST=1496594362][/DOUBLEPOST]By the time S Malik comes into bat, this game will be over.

ROFL, So The 7th 8th and 9th number teams are so bad enough that they are thrashing the top sides all over the park?? Remember the SL match against India, That was no Luck whatsoever, It was SL's rising efforts that made it possible. Even the cricketing viewers could see it very clearly in SL tour to SA. SL would be there eventually. I believe that Top 8 sides competition is the beauty of the Cricket and upsets are icing on the cake. While a 5 teams tournament can be good as well, It won't beat the Champions Trophy Fun because Rankings and Statistics is a different ball game.

Saying that Bangladesh is better than Pakistan and SL is a similar statement that Misbah-Ul-Haq is a better captain than Imran Khan. Or Irfan Pathan is the next Wasim Akram.

Congratulations to England and Bangladesh. Rain and not so good bowling by Australia did the damage for them in this CT17. I hope their issue of contract is resolved quickly.
