Ideas for Ashes Cricket 2010

About the idea for a 20 year season mode thing - a problem with that would be that some players would be like 50 years old towards the end of it. Unless there is a a player retirement + random player generator system implemented with it, it won't be great.

Most other ideas have already been brought up. Different weights and heights, more game modes, controlling speed, more in-depth stat tracking, ability to view all these stats, ability to view graphs and hawk eye and replays when wanted...

I'd like to see more and/or better bowling actions, easier to use player editor, some sort of domestic cricket mode and a 'Be a Pro' style mode as well.

Why would it matter if you use the same squad of players for 20 years? Having retirements would be stupid as you get further into then you would know nothing about the random generated players.

Using Tendulkar or Ponting or Jayasuriya for another 20 years just isn't feasible.

It could be like FIFA, where you do get randomly generate youths to train and play with and get used to...

Should they grow old aswell?

Be a Legend/Be a Pro mode (ala Fifa/PES)? Could it work in a cricket game? Obviously, we'd need a speed up mode while you're waiting to bat (or maybe you can be the guy who runs out with the drinks :p - I know 12th man usually does it, but what the hell?)

Edit: Didn't TG already say that Domestic Cricket would figure in the next game?

* This is what I consider most important - Game speed. blc99 had the perfect game speed. There should be a flow when the bowler runs and bowls and also when the batsman plays a shot. After a batsman plays a shot, the bat should slowly rise to his shoulder not as soon as he hit!!! And the close-in fielders seem too fast, they catch ball in less than 0.4 secs!!! They can stop the ball but naturally not precisely or catch it.

* I would like to see a powerful sweep shot, like the one Yuvraj Singh plays, as one the lofted shots. Reverse sweep is also needed. But both these should be played only by highly skilled players. Scoop shot can be played by players ranging from normal to highly skilled ones. Separate keys should be assigned to these shots.(like in blc2007) but no need for normal sweep shot(which comes under the normal shot selection in AC09).

* More responsive commentary panel. When a batsman hits a six, then the commentators should comment about it in an excited tone(game spirit was missing in them, which needs to be addressed). Names of players need to be mentioned when coming to bat or bowl or if taken a catch. (like in EA) If not real life commentators, even good voice acting artists can be used.

* Currently, the textures of the ground are great, reflecting the conditions of the specific country. Animations for rain need to be added.

* Rain-delays, 'bad light' delays and player injuries would be nice to see.(and special animation for that can be added).

* Ball physics need to be improved. Ball needs to wear not only with over progress but also with batsman's aggression.

* Including a dive/slide option for batsmen was a very good idea but why not for the fielders???...no need for that meter but as there needs to be a slide and dive option. In the deep, after the pressing the dive button, 1) He can miss it or 2) He should only stop it, not collect it in his hands.

* Crowd need to have flags. Mexican wave and other things will be nice to see(while camera focusing them). Sometimes camera need to show the dressing room of the players. PROPER CAMERA ANGLES, while showing the replay. More varied angles and importantly proper angles!!!

I have shared my thought here, if anyone likes to here more ideas then im ready to give...

Not seen the latter.

Have they mentioned something about a Be a Pro type mode then? I think it could work!

I had an idea for that, you could select to just play the 'key' highlights, so you would only bat your innings, although you'd watch the whole time you were in the middle, field the balls that come to you and bowl the overs that you're selected for. It could be a little more in depth, like telling you what sort of over the previous one was, to see if pressure was built or what.

This is called "Road to the Show" in the baseball game MLB09: The Show.

It's fun because you don't have to be involved in every single delivery of the game. Just when your player is involved. It needs to be backed up with full stats tracking - that's the whole point. It's your career!

Another feature is that your player gets dropped from the team when he's under-performing. He gets sent to the minor leagues. When you improve your player there, he may get selected back into the majors.

In cricket, your career player may get cut from the national team after a long string of failures, but there will have to be a domestic feature in the game so that he can play domestic games to get himself back on track. This would be heaps of fun. Imagine if you are Phillip Hughes and you get dumped from the Australian team, so you then try to stick it up the selectors butts by scoring back-to-back centuries and take a couple of wickets in the domestic league. Oh yeah!

:facepalm I've got to stop 'coming up with ideas' that already exist.

PS. It would be great.

I'm fairly sure that's something they've either implied from 'further leveraging of the licenses in future' or that they have actually said. I'm sure Domestic Cricket is fairly likely for next time around, and it'd be a good way to add the depth of offline modes that is sorely lacking.

Atleast if the game was easily editable then licensing wont matter much...

I completely agree with this statement, make the game fully editable, with the option to add numerous teams , players and competitions, and put the money saved from having to pay for the licence into other area's. It doesn't take too long to edit teams and someone will always produce a line up patch anyhow. The ashes licence appeared to be wasted in this game in my opinion, so much more could have been done with it.
Can they not get sponsered by companies for the ingame advertising. They should try and get as many companies such as Slazenger, Adidas, Dukes, V.B., Castle etc, onboard and then have them on the adboards at the grounds.
I have no experience in these matters so it may not be as easy as it would appear to be, can anyone enlighten me??
