Did we ever work out why the current New Zealand England series doesn't count for this? At least in a way that makes sense

Per the ICC, each country(part of the WTC) would play 3 series at home, 3 series away. When the WTC was announced, the Eng-NZ series wasn't on the cards and hence it doesn't feature therein.

Seems like we're headed to a New Zealand-India final.
Feeling sad for Australians :(
They were at the top of the table yesterday.

I have updated the first and second post.

This Inaugural Test Championship has been pathetic. While of updating, I learnt that Bangladesh so far has only had 1 complete series (against India), 1 series which was played half (against Pakistan) and have had 3 series being postponed (Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka) and will only play 1 more series against West Indies. So in this inaugural test championship, Bangladesh would have played on 5 test matches. This is not fair on them and takes away all the meaning of a CHAMPIONSHIP.

I do not think Bangladesh will play 3 series by June given Australia play South Africa in Feb and a looming IPL in March/April. I really hope they get to play as many series as possible even if they lose.

New Zealand has completed all their Test championship matches pending the Bangladesh series. If that series happens, it will be another 2 match series in Bangladesh. India has played all their matches which will include the upcoming England tour.

England is the only team that has not a lost a series in this World Championship and only team to win in 2 away series (Sri Lanka & South Africa).

India & England are the only teams that have had no impacts of Covid as they have no series that was postponed. I think this is more due to the fact they bring revenue then anything else.

Few upcoming series that could be possible as part of Test Championship

Australia tour of South Africa - February
Australia tour of Bangladesh - ???
Bangladesh tour of Pakistan (1 test match remaining)
Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka
New Zealand tour of Bangladesh
West Indies tour of Bangladesh - February (Ongoing)
South Africa tour of Pakistan - January (Ongoing)
Sri Lanka tour of West Indies - February ???

Can’t blame anyone though, the circumstances were out of everyone's hand. I think they should’ve just cancelled it, to be honest, but i guess broadcast money was at stake.

Bangladesh is to be only blamed for the postponed/cancelled Sri Lankan series. They were invited and did not want to follow the Covid Protocols. I feel, post the African series, they should quickly fly to Pakistan and complete the remaining last match. I know that will be lot of cricket but Australia can fly from Africa and play in Bangladesh too? Or in a neutral venue in UAE?
