India tour of Australia - 2018/19

Mark my words.. that small phase post lunch and at the start of play where the Indian bowlers sprayed it around will decide the test in Australia's favour.

I actually feel we lost it with the team selection itself, if we manage a win or draw its a really good bonus.. And the way our batsman are playing , I dont know for how long they would be able to resist..

I don't think the surface has been that difficult to bat on. The way Marcus Harris was hitting those on the rise shots it seems like the pitch isn't doing much earlier in the day when it comes to the sideways movement (the biggest weakness of Indian batsman). And yes it would certainly get slower which would make batting easier late in Day 2 and till Tea on Day 3 (the entire period in which India would be batting most probably), so we have our advantage if our batsman show a bit more of patience and if we get a 100+ lead we would be all over Australia considering the way the pitch would behave on Day 4 and Day 5. We are safe in this game until we are chasing less than 150 on this track

Ishant's looked out of rhythm today. the first 10 overs where we went for 4 r.p.o will haunt us in this test. From this position, I predict Australia to get around 400, with one of Cummins, Starc and Paine getting a hundred. For India to get anywhere close to that, it has to be Kohli or Rahane on this track. Unlike Adelaide, this is not a track where you can grind the opposition out and play out time. Its like a playable version of the Johannesburg track we saw earlier this year. Australia well ahead. Cummins will rip us apart.

The surface looked a bit fake IMO. The way it has behaved. It was certainly good to bat but more over the spin was handy. Had India played a spinner. Who knows Australia would've been bowled out.

Interesting day. Looking at the pitch and carry. I am afraid India can bowl out under 150. Would be interesting to see how Hazlewood and Starc fares here

Horrible bowling by Ishant.

Whose bright idea is it to bowl short on this track? Goti?

I reckon this is too much 320+ on a track like this and now some counter attacking runs from tail will add more crucial runs to Australia's tally.

Is inswing the only thing you need to bowl to KL Rahul to get him out ? Such a rash shot he played :facepalm

But a brilliant start from Kohli :clap

The drive which he played showed that you got to be positive in your approach and let the ball come at you to be able to play for a longer periods and score runs as well. Hoping that he and Pujara plays well in this innings and take India to a fighting total :cheers

Lineup

1.Kl inconsistent Rahul
2.Sitting Duck
3.Cheteshwar Pujara
4.Virat Kohli
5.Ajinkya Rahane
6.Rishabh Pant
7.Vihari "full time" bowler
8.spray gun
9.2nd innings Shami
10.Ishant Sharma of 2012
11. Jasprit Bumrah[DOUBLEPOST=1544854180][/DOUBLEPOST]Even an injured Prithvi Shaw would be better than our opening duo

Imo I don't think there was anything rash about that shot ... Rahul barely got any time to even play a shot. That was one of those unplayable deliveries - yorker and swinging in late. You have to be very very lucky to get any bat on that one
Vijays shot was poor though. Even though that too was a brilliant delivery.. But not unplayable[DOUBLEPOST=1544854426][/DOUBLEPOST]Anyways, bottomline is our openers once again failed. While the aussie openers got a 100+ runs opening stand yesterday... That could win the game for them

Agree to some extent but "Luck" that is not what you need everytime when you are a good player which KL Rahul is. To some extent it seemed like a full toss. If he was playing for an inswinger he would've been in a better position to play it but was rather looking to play for a straighter one
