Robinson and Overton were both excellent in this Test. I'd put both in the first-choice Ashes attack, regardless of who comes back

Robinson is the find of the summer for England.

Sam Curran, on the other hand, will be lucky if he's not dropped. But, with Stokes still out, are there any other decent all-rounders?

Robinson has been so good, one has to wonder how he hadn’t been on the radar before.

Looks the real deal for sure.

Gus Fraser syndrome - underpicked and undervalued based mostly on aesthetics.

Jordan Thompson would be my rogue selection if such a thing were to be permitted. Failing that, Darren Stevens

A slight observation that I made about Rahane yesterday. He was leaving balls outside off-stump quite comfortably when he was batting with Kohli but as soon as Kohli & Pant got out he poked at the ball and followed the pattern of dismissal that other batsman had gone through.

He did this even in the Lord's Test in the 2nd innings. He looked quite comfortable batting with Pujara but as soon as Pujara got out he made a similar error of poking at the ball. His shot at the end of Day 1 in Lord's was just ridiculous where he tried to guide a ball way outside off stump to the third man.

So I think with Rahane it is completely mindset based and has nothing to do with his inability to perform. He has the ability and the skills required to perform. But just needs to clear out his mind.

Well Stats does tell a lot of story, doesn't it?

Barring few knocks here & there Rahane has really struggled.

So is Kohli for the last 2 years.

Pujara has been scoring fifties but a big knock has eluded him since the 2018 Australia Tour.

And we don't have players coming from our domestic circuits since the whole covid scenario.

Also in our domestic Circuit we have a lot of openers but no middle order batters. And this is where we are struggling.

Rishabh Pant has struggled too its been 4 tests now including the WTC final.

Scenarios like yesterday were perfect for him but he threw his wicket away.

The biggest issue is he doesn't trust his defence in these conditions we all know his attacking nature but the thing is he needs to have a better defence and at the moment its all over the place.

Its a Surprise that he has been playing like this & If you look at how he made his debut in Tests is because of the Subsequent A tour India had with Main Tour in 2018 against England, his performances in that A series was a result of him being drafted straightaway into the senior squad replacing Dinesh Karthik.
Also in our domestic Circuit we have a lot of openers but no middle order batters. And this is where we are struggling.
Also the subsequent A tours are missing because the contingency of the squad is too large and again the whole covid thing.

Rishabh Pant, Agarwal, Vihari were straightway into the senior squad due to their performances in these A tours.

Ashwin will possibly play the 4th Test. There's no way Kohli will keep the team unchanged - think Jadeja will make way for him.

Shardul might also come in for Ishant. If there is any chance of winning the series, we gotta win the 4th Test.

Funny game this. Four days ago, all the problems seemed to be with England and now it's the complete opposite.

@zimrahil is smiling ear to ear :p

I liked Root better when he was content with getting his 50s and not converting them :mad
