Giving a longer rope to a bastman nearing 35 shouldn't be the main criteria of the team. Rohit has batted well, but is nowhere near 'best'- Yes, 'best' in the current team where no one seems to be scoring. However, that doesnt mean he becomes your best man overnight.
I don't think age is that much of an issue when we talk about specialist batsman who performs his role. It's a different thing when we talk about keepers and pace bowlers since their life span as a Cricketer is short.

Also I agree with that part that Rohit isn't the best option we can look forward to. He still seems to be going for his shots at critical stages in his innings which is a bit of a worry. But, I wouldn't look at keeping him out just because of his age considering that he is doing well right now and with our non-performing middle order.

Gill is a direct replacement for Rohit but I think Rohit isn't going anywhere atleast for a couple of years. He is just ageing like a fine wine at present.

Yeh, echoes my sentiments as well.

To prepare for the transition, Gil must open. We need one fixed opener for sure. Given KLR's uncertain position in the team, I'd like to see Gill steal the limelight. In future, depending upon the retirement schedule of the current 4 batters, Rohit could consider moving to No4/5.

I think with his terrific record at home if KLR performs consistently in Overseas as well he couldn't be kept out and will continue to play as an Opener.

Feel a bit dizzy after reading this.

I think England would already be looking to take the focus off this series provided that they aren't winning this one so I don't see them playing Jimmy Anderson in the last Test. I think Robinson can easily take up Anderson's role in the Final Test and with Wood coming into the scheme of things, I don't think it would make much of a difference. I am looking forward to England playing this line-up

Rory Burns :bat:
Haseeb Hameed :bat:
Dawid Malan :bat:
Joe Root :c::bat:
Ollie Pope :bat:
Jos Buttler :wkb:
Moeen Ali :ar:
Craig Overton :bwl:
Chris Woakes :bwl:
Ollie Robinson :bwl:
Mark Wood :bwl:

England would look to play only one of their favourites and Buttler probably seems to be superior to England so that would mean Jonny sits out. Ollie Pope is no way getting dropped after scoring that 81 while Malan hasn't performed too badly. I think even this side can beat India if they perform to their potential.

These starts are no where as good as what they used to be. Giving a longer rope to a bastman nearing 35 shouldn't be the main criteria of the team. Rahane will play in Manchester! I did read an article that stated that Ajinkya Rahane might be the actual brains behind India's bowling/ fielding changes and hence the management might not want to discard him. He is woefully short on confidence, I do hope he bounces back. Cause after this, this will be a longish break wherein he can relax and come back stronger.

I feel, he will get a chance vs Nz in the home series-perhaps even captain then!

Kohli fans, where are you? This is 'pounce-worthy' material :p

That day in the post-match conference Virat himself mentioned that Bumrah took the ball from him when he saw that it was reversing. Seems like Kohli's bowlers know it better than him. :p

Speculations are rife that the 5th Test might get cancelled after another Covid positive member in the Indian camp. Very unfortunate indeed if true.

There are rumors of a tussle happening between ECB and BCCI where ECB is reported to have asked BCCI to forfeit the fifth test and the BCCI (especially with strong opinions of Kohli and Rohit) have vehemently denied the request and are planning to play the test match.

If this is true, shameful of ECB to try to avoid series defeat (and a points loss in WTC table) by asking for a forfeit. Its their country that has relaxed all norms for vaccinated people and have been letting life go on like normal. If the test cant happen tomorrow, postpone the test to next year when India travels to England for the white ball series.

Social media is asking for Shastri's head because of his book release event. I am not a fan of Shastri, but I am going to side with him on this. The everyone is moving around freely without concerns, why should Shastri be held accountable for attending an event? He was fully vaccinated. If there is so much concern about Delta variant, they should've enforced a stricter bio bubble for vaccinated folks.

Hahaha, I read the complete opposite which said it's the BCCI who want to skip the 5th Test as a precaution, so as to not derail the IPL that is to follow soon.

England is a country which has eased almost all the restrictions after their double vaccination thing.

With no strict bubble a case up here & there is bound to happen and shouldn't be a surprise at any cost since COVID cases will likely happen even after double vaccination.

So either you maintain your bubble thing or be prepared so such outcomes.

And currently it seems like ECB was not expecting the latter to happen.
