If Ishant wasn't injured and bowled his overs out,India would have won..
A good match though.

Just wait and see.. The results are going to be same even in ODIs and in Tests.. I don't know whether people here(except few) have watched India playing in NZ before.. The gameplay is surprisingly the same  Struggling to get runs going... as if its a good bowling pitch but opponents have no problem in loosing the wicket column when they come to bat  It was same when Azhar, Srinath and those guys were playing.. It was same when Ganguly, Tendulkar and those guys were playing. And It is the same when Dhoni, Yuvi and those guys are playing!

Even in last tour, Sehwag smashed a century in one of the ODIs but after he got out, we struggled to win that match. Completely a lack of consistency! India always have struggled and are struggling on SA and NZ soils. Caribbean can also be added in these lists. Atleast in Australia people like Sidhu, Tendulkar, Laxman, Yuvraj, Agarkar, Kumble have made some remarkable memories in past tours despite of loosing against Aussies. But in NZ, SA .. we always tend to struggle.

I still remember how India failed for around 100 runs in both the innings once against SA in SA where the opponents smashed around 500 runs.

I still go with my predictions earlier,

In ODIs, its NZ(4) - (1) Ind and
In Tests, its NZ (3) - (0) Ind.

If they prove me wrong, I would be the happiest person in this whole world :)

Odi's 3-2 to NZ
Tests- 2-0 to India

That's my prediction for the series, India will have to play a hell of alot better than they have in the T20's though.

Congrats to the Kiwis :), great match again.

We shouldn't be harsh on the Indian batting, they haven't done too bad to come into these conditions after all those subcontinent games (they also had no warmup matches) and still post semi decent totals in a game where you don't really have a lot of time to settle in. They'll eventually find their timing, but at the mo the teams are quite evenly matched and this series is getting better by the min!

Nail-biter of a game eh..
Good outcome for the home-side.
A shame about the drunks heaving' objects mind you. Disrespectful.

I will say one thing, McCullum is improving as a player every time he is out in the middle.

I think the ODI's will be a completely different ball game.
And I am predicting India to take the first one out.

Bring on more exciting cricket.:D:D

I thought India were supposed to be the best in the world in Twenty20? =\ Even England managed to beat New Zealand in New Zealand, and then we smashed them at home as well, with Ian Bell playing beautifully when opening, one of the best innings I've seen from him. Gambhir's looked completely out of nick, which is weird considering he's been in great form, has not played well at all.

:idea perhaps thats cos conditions in England and New Zealand aren't as mismatched as they are betwen India and New Zealand

Wow, Closer than I thought the victory was for NZ. Once again McCullum was the deciding factor. Congrats NZ. Hope we come back stronger for the ODI's.

Yuvi and McCullum = God :hpraise

I hope Sreesanth and Rp Singh watched this match as well as the last one. They need a kick up their backsides.

R Sharma :mad

What a match true cricket and McCullum is actually a prince of T20 for me :hpraise

it's 3-0 :(

the ODI = 3-2 or 4-1 India

the test = no idea

Well i would say, Dhoni played bit slow. If he would have played quick, then the pressure wouldn't be on the batsman to score a lot quicker. Anyhow i feels, India will loose both Test And Odi series.

Still keeping faith with India for the T20s, New Zealand played well but ODIs are a completely different ball game.

Well bowled Pathan and well played Kiwiz. India's strike forces are not used properly at the right time though I am not blaming anyone for that. Indian batting is not living up to their reputation. Indian bowled well in middle overs and McCullum also did not throw his wicket away. Very mature and sensible.
Also we have seen some world class spine bowling in middle overs from both sides. I was expecting that from Vettori and Bhajji but Jadeja truly amazed me by his bowling. Much better prospect than it looks like.

Jadeja is very very impressive... The way he batted for those 19 runs off 16 balls and the way he bowled, truly exciting stuff... And he fields brilliantly. I think we have found a very good allrounder in him who can serve us for so many years in the shorter formats. He needs to get more spin to trouble batsmen and since he is quite young, he can work on that.

Odi's 3-2 to NZ
Tests- 2-0 to India

That's my prediction for the series, India will have to play a hell of alot better than they have in the T20's though.

Initially, I predicted 4-1 or 5-0 to india in ODI's. But now I will predict a 3-2 scoreline in favor of either of the sides. If we take more time to get our approach working right, we will struggle for few more matches which could mean NZ get right on top. But the comeback of Sachin Tendulkar could act as an influence in the ODI's. Irfan should play only if the conditions are swinging. Even in swinging conditions, he is hit easily (his first two overs yesterday went for a lot). Since Ishant is injured now, it should be Zaheer, Praveen and Munaf with Bhajji. I wish they retain Jadeja for the ODI's and play him instead of Yusuf whose bowling doesnt inspire me much after seeing Jadeja.

Same here... And the fact that we have had to acclimatise in two games before the ODI's starts.

India's recent main success have come because of the top order. So far the top order didn't come out great, but I am expecting from India better results then they previously toured New Zealand.
