I remember being excited for the IPL in its initial years, but not any more. A couple of gakes here and there and thats it. The intensity and the enthusiasm that was displayed by the players earlier on seems to be missing nowadays.
The CLT20 was perhaps stopped with this very factor in mind, where the sport renains to be dictated by the ICC/Boards and not by commercial organisations.
I feel this wont happen due to the clout the BCCI holds. Yes, we have lost the West Indies and a few Associates to this T20 league phenomenon, but I don't see it happening with the likes of India, England and Australia.International cricket is dying man! Don't be surprised if we reach a phase in the future where international cricket becomes all about World Cups and marquee test series and the rest of the game is played within various overseas leagues that possibly culminate into a Championship league. The sport is headed the football way. And well........... the current Indian coach (Ravi Shastri) seems to have a similar suggestion for cricket moving forward.
