India's Tour of Sri Lanka

I thought India were good players of spin bowling. :/

India's batting collapse doesn't suprise me but being rolled over my spin bowlers is another ball game. India played like England in the Headingley game- rash and brainless. They didn't really knuckle down and grind it out. Perhaps arrogance or over-confidence. They'll learn from it. But though i must say that this episode shouldn't occur among players who have played 100 tests.

I'm hoping Laxman scores a fifty atleast cause he's my favourite batsman out of the big 4. All of 'pundits' claim he'll be dropped first (out of the big 4) to make way for younger blood.

Perfect script for Srilanka.
Srilanka have enforced the follow on and India have to bat 157 overs to save the match.
I think lot depend on Gambhir and Sehwag.either of them must need to go for a big.
though I don't see India saving this test match.

The stars couldn't do anything and everyone's still blaming Karthik?

Karthik was going to be rusty. But,he was definately the better choice. If Patel were behind the stumps,Srilanka would have been 600/1 decl.

It doesnt surprise me either.A team which has played non-stop cricket from last years tour of England needs some rest.

I really can't understand why Indians do not play sweep shot, it is so safe shot to spinners and one doesn't have to know where the ball will spin. as it is a cross batted shot. sweep is the only option to tackle both of them. Matthew Hayden is so good at it.
It isn't that safe a shot, you can quite easily outfox a compulsive sweeper with a good variation, be it wrong'un, topspinner or doosra, even an armball. Murali used two of these variations to defeat batsmen attempting the sweep yesterday and plenty of us have seen Warne bowl guys trying to sweep a plain leg break. It is a brilliant shot in the hands of a master, particularly the slog-sweep, but a good sweeper still has to read the ball.

The stars tried to fight it out mate.

They were actually defending the balls and hitting the bad ones away.

Karthik was just trying to hit them out, and playing some stupid shots.

Thats why we blame Karthik.

Mendis is a genius... he bowled laxman and dravid and Murali is the greatest... i hope he can get another 5-for in 2nd innings

Not anymore,mate.
I have maintained for sometime that India`s best chnce to win a test match these days is on tracks which assist the seamers and not on slow and low wickets as it used to be.

We just have to look at the test match stats since 2003 to realize that we have done extremely well overseas and have been very mediocre at home(and in the subcontinent). Most of our famous wins have come because of our fast bowlers and also because our batsmen are better on tracks where there is some pace and bounce.

It was a memorable moment years ago when third umpire has been introduced to judge run outs and Sachin was the first victim who given out.
I am feeling like Sachin again will be first case here as he loves to be in History.

I told that couple of days ago because I knew it.

This 2 spinner combination is quite scary. Oh well. At least Murili can retire soon and Sri Lanka will still have a class spinner.

There Mendis and Murli are chopping up the batting lineup:crying

It's all over, India all out for 138, Sri Lanka win by an innings and 238 runs. 8/132 for Mendis on debut and 11/110 for Murali. Very classy by Sri Lanka. :D

I was anticipating for a thing like this. Remember the 1st test of last test series that SriLanka played in India? Murali really made the Indian batsmen dance to his tune and here is no difference. From the 2nd test match India started playing him well.
I do think that the Indian Batsmen will make amends in 2nd test match.
