India's Tour of Sri Lanka

Ranatunga criticises players skipping Test cricket

CHENNAI: In an apparent reference to Indian ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga on Thursday came down heavily on players dodging Test cricket to play in cash-rich Twenty20 leagues.

"Some players complain of tiredness due to busy cricketing schedule. Unfortunately, when it comes to IPL they are not tired," Ranatunga said, without mentioning any names.

Dhoni pulled out of the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, citing "fatigue" due to a busy cricket calendar.

This is slightly more encouraging. Only partly cloudy today it claims.

don't know how you guys would feel even if it was a spin all-rounder than Harbhajan could be left out for another pace bowler. I know that a pace bowling all-rounder would be a better option but India are really in a need of a good all rounder. I think they are the only side without a established all-rounder.

I agree with Ranatunga, all these players are saying o we are playing too much cricket but they aren't tired when it comes to the IPL.

We've played a good four months of cricket after the IPL though

But it seems that Dhoni isn't too tired to shoot for commercials, he is supposedly making around 25 of them or so during his break!

well pakistan, srilanka, westindies, australia do not have a genuine allrounder
in tests, only flintoff and kallis can be genuine allrounders.

Considering the amount of non-stop cricket played by Team India,I wouldnt be surprised if more and more players take breaks like the one Dhoni has.

People who live in India and Sri Lanka- What TV Channel is the tour game vs Sri Lanka Board XI coming on (if it's even on TV)?

Dwayne Bravo is probably the best pure all-rounder in cricket today baring Flintoff when he is healthy. Pakistan have Malik and Afridi, if it came down to it they could leave out a full time spinner and include a pace bowler just because they have those 2.

Yeah, Dwayne Bravo is the only full all rounder. He performs equally with bat and ball. How he performs does not matter, but his skills in both areas are equal. I don't mean he isn't an excellent all rounder when i say "does not matter", because I do think he is, I was just stating why he is a pure all rounder.
