Justin Langer, the Australia Test opener, is expected to turn out for Somerset on a short-term contract later this month ahead of the 2006-07 Ashes in Australia which begins in November.
Langer, who hasn't played a competitive match since he was hit on the head by a vicious bouncer from Makhaya Ntini in April, will take the place of fellow Australian Dan Cullen who is due to tour with Australia A.
