In Harold Larwood and Bill O'Reilly, The Undisputed Era possessed arguably the two greatest anti-Bradman and anti-Hammond weapons in all of creation, with the pair helping them neutralize arguably the two biggest batting threats in the Karachi lineup.

7Hpe8ao.jpg

But it was perhaps their misfortune that Karachi also had Ken Barrington, Hanif Mohammad and Clyde Walcott to call upon; all three recorded half-centuries, with Walcott adding a staggering 45 runs in just 2.4 overs alongside Float Woods for the final wicket which included him smashing TUE's spearheads Ray Lindwall and Harold Larwood for a combined 40 runs off the final two overs of the innings. He brought up a whirlwind 36-ball fifty in the process and took his team to a formidable total of 302.

Richie Benaud, who was smashed for an embarrassing 77 off his 7 overs in the previous game, repaid the faith put in him by his skipper to bowl a match-winning spell of 3 for 30 off 8 overs. Karachi won by a convincing 61-run margin on their home ground. Ken Barrington meanwhile capped off a brilliant match with both bat and on the field, scoring 85 off 90 balls and claiming four important catches during TUE's innings to get rid of Everton Weekes, Stan McCabe, Frank Worrell and Denis Lindsay.

Yes, mate!

Needed that win after the last game. Arthur Morris' inclusion proved to be useless, but Herbert Dorning's was quite valuable.

I knew Clyde Walcott was going to be the darkhorse of our team, and he did not let me down. Let's hope we can carry on with our winning ways.

Dane Vilas quite unexpectedly rose above his more seasoned peers with a run-a-ball half-century on a difficult track for batsmen where the Wanderers' bowling attack consisting of Mike Procter, Bart King and Percy Fender picked wickets for fun. Procter recorded a very impressive analysis of 3 for 7 off his 5 overs, proving absolutely unplayable during his spell.

The Generic Wanderers' batsmen were finally put to the test in their first match outside of their batting haven in Trent Bridge, and were very nearly undone by two superb bowling performances from JJ Ferris, who claimed 4 for 41 off his 9 overs, and Trevor Goddard who outdid Procter himself with his miserliness to record astonishing bowling figures of 2 for 8 off his 7 overs. But their ridiculous batting lineup that had Mike Procter and Bart King of all people coming in at Nos 10 and 11 respectively came to the rescue, and they won by a thrilling 1-wicket margin to continue their winning streak in the competition.

PlanetCricket were forced to do a long hard grind following an ill-advised decision to bat on a poor batting surface that was arguably at it's worst during the first half of the match. Jack Hobbs and John Langridge added half-centuries, but their pace of run-scoring left a lot to be desired as PlanetCricket could muster only 199 off their 50 overs.

Having recorded a 132-ball fifty earlier in the competiton, Douglas Jardine went slightly quicker this time getting there in just 106 balls. Despite having had a rather good tournament with the bat thus far with 122 runs at 61.00 with 2 half-centuries, he remained one of the least watchable players going around with a batting strike rate of just 41.78 runs per 100 balls. His approach nevertheless helped bring up the Hound Dogs first victory of the competition after two consecutive defeats.

WTH is wrong with Headley? Very impressed with Vilas. He has scored runs when no one hasn't! I hope we can add more runs next time!
