The legendary Clem Hill batted himself out of a terrible rut that had seen him aggregate only 176 runs from 8 innings at an average of 22.00 in the tournament in the most brutal manner possible. In one swoop, his remarkable 122-ball 161 today nearly doubled his tally to a much more respectable 335 runs at 37.22 and contained a LAB record 12 sixes in an innings. But equally remarkable however were the efforts of Bill Lockwood, who despite being brutalized for 98 off his 10 overs still managed to claim a 5-wicket haul to restrict the Wanderers to a total of 283 - a performance which perfectly summed up his cricketing career where he had to battle through some of the worst hardships imaginable to come out on top.
