Major England ODI Overhaul Needed

Out of interest (Aussy supporter here) why the hell isnt Loye in the team? England performed really well when he joined. Gave em comfidence to slash at mcgrath and lee (and bracken but not as successful). Odd. I like the look of bopara, future captain in the making? Bell should be 4, hes the equivalent of Michael Clarke. What the hell is wrong with fletcher. Pieterson plays for himself and u guys are missing tresco (as uve pointed out already). Whats the news on simon jones anyway? Lol, so many questions eh. Bit disappointing from england, india and Pak this year...

Played a couple of pre-season games for Glamorgan, not in their game with Oxford UCCE, will be interesting to see if he plays vs Somerset on Sunday.

8-2-29-0 vs Sussex 2nd April
9-0-46-1 vs Worcs 9th April

Though I know he hasn't been bowling at full pace just yet, hardly surprising though.

Amen. This guy gets my vote to coach the team because he has made more sense in this paragraph than Fletcher has throughout the entire WC.

I think Nixon and Bopara are the only shining lights to come out of this tediously pathetic attempt at playing cricket from England. Pieterson and Bell did well but we know what they could do anyway.

An the less said about Vaughan and Freddie the better really. Ah I will say one thing though, demote Vaughan to kit boy. Please.

this would be my team for the match against the windies

tresco
strauss
vaughn/bell
pieterson
shah(should be at 3 but is better at playing with tailenders than anyone else in this team)
flintoff
read
hoggard
harmison
jones
monty

i would get collingwood out of the side cos hes just a bit part player in the team,
sure when jones was injured england had to find that extra bowler but now thats he seems to be abck they need a specialist batsman and shah fits the bill

Tresco? No.
He needs to be able to tour. There's no ppint stickiing him in their this summer, even if he gets runs we wouldn't be able to take him on tour and so It'd be pointless give someone who'd tour a go.
Jones? Too soon.
Chris Read? Haha.
Shah? Fundamentally the batting in tests is fine, so no.
I also don't think you can call a bloke who averages just under or around 40 a bit part player. He's easily been our best player in the last few months.

2 questions:

1) Is this your test team?
2) Why would you drop Bell?

In my opinion, that Collingwood comment is idiotic. An average in the mid-40s and 3 centuries, including a double hundred against the Aussies suggest he is not 'just a bit part player'

Collingwood holds his place in the team as a batsman on his own easily. Think of his fielding and bowling as bonuses.

Simon Jones is improving each week.

The Test team I think should be pretty much the same as it was but with injuries returning:

1. Strauss
2. Vaughan (c)
3. Bell
4. Pietersen
5. Collingwood
6. Flintoff
7. Nixon (wk)
8. Panesar
9. Harmison
10. Hoggard
11. S Jones

If Jones isn't fit then Broad or Plunkett should come in. The ODI team I think should be:

1. Trescothick (or Bopara if he's not ready to come back)
2. Vaughan
3. Shah
4. Pietersen
5. Collingwood
6. Flintoff
7. Nixon (wk)
8. Broad
9. Panesar
10. S Jones
11. Anderson

Bell misses out but I think Bopara's gap hitting would be a useful combination with Tresco's slogging approach. If Jones isn't ready then maybe Harmison could be persuaded out of retirement or Plunkett when its swinging.

collingwoods technique can be easily exposed by a top bowler
either get rid of vaughn or drop bell or collingwood

you cant have vaughn in the team and also have both of bell and colly

Nixon in tests? I'd love to see that. Reverse sweeps in a test match would be hillarious.

Trescothick has to be the other opener with Strauss.

Nixon was old enough as it was in the ODI arena this being a World Cup year made it alright but not in the test arena. They need to blood someone so that they gain some experience and maybe be ready for the Ashes contest.
