Michael Bevan VS Lance Klusener
who is the best finisher?
though both have retired this has been a long debate.
hope the debate ends here.
my man is Bevan, for his ruthless finishes.also i love klusener for his hard fought innings in the 99 WC semifinals against australia.

Bevan was reliable. 9 out of 10 games could be won by him. That game against the Windies. Sends shivers. I vote Bevan. But blimey Lance Klusener was my favourite player. Unbelievable in the world cup 99. I still am a big fan of Lance. I hope him and Smith can become friends soon. The Saffas are kinda boring without Lance, Jonty Rhodes, Alan Donald and Gary Kirsten. And now Shaun Pollock.

Lance was lethal. Have seen very little of him, but what I did see + ICL performance, I wouldn't want to be the bowling side. Actually, I would want to, but I understand why others wouldn't. Run Rates in excess of 10, 11 were not safe if he was around.

But Bevan is consistent, and a cool head. And since this is only finishing and not allrounder ability, I'll go for Bevan.

Klusener FTW!

Bevan hardly has the ability to be a good finisher (The only big hitting signs he showed was the last ball 4 vs. WI and 183 vs. Asia)

Klusener, he's one heck of a finisher. The best six hitting machine you will ever see under pressure. He's played many good knocks and won many many matches for South Africa during his time. What a shame that he had a big fight with Smith otherwise you would still see him playing for RSA and then they would have won the 2007 World Cup ;)

However, I would say Michael Bevan is a better batsman overall because he has techniques which is lacking in Klusener. Since this thread is for a better finisher, Klusener has the edge :D

Beavan is better by miles. Beavan is such a player who can be lethal and defensive at the same time.

Lance Klusener! I liked his powerful bating during WC99. even though i was a kid i still remember it.
Lance Klusener is a hitter! he just hits!
M.B. was more like a good batsman who hits a lot, scores runs by hitting!

You gotta remember that stacks of batsmen can attack at the end of the first innings, but far less have been able to orchestrate a run chase with the same aplomb. Bevan would grind a total down so that risky batting was not needed. With an uncanny ability to pick gaps and run between the wickets, he became one of the most amazingly consistent batsmen in ODIs.

Run rates in excess of 10, 11 an over aren't safe if there is a guy out there running twos off every ball.

In terms of current players, the ones to watch are Sarwan, Pietersen and Dhoni. I'm not sure Klusener measures up against Pietersen, who is about as aggressive, but much more consistent.

People voting for Klusener are out of their minds.

No one can beat Bevan. Klusener was more entertaining, but he wasn't as consistant and wasn't as reliable.

Some rate Bevan as the best ODI batsmen ever so Klusener certainly has some making up to do to match Bevan.

But on the topic at hand, I believe Bevan was the better finisher. Klusener certainly is the more aggressive finisher but he was never consistent at doing it. Bevan on the hand was more times than not there at the end to pick up the run rate. He may not be the biggest hitter but when you have the placement that he does you don't need it as any 4 is the same in terms of runs to the score.

As mentioned already, Bevan could play either the setting target or the chasing with him being especially good at chasing a target down. He also has been involved in a number of rescuing missions. So with all these facts it's got to be Bevan.

This is a good competition but regarding batting it's Bevan and regarding Aggression it's Kluesener

If Hussey is Mr. Cricket then Bevan was definetly Mr. ODI. Compared to Klusener he was a better 'overall' batsman with a bit of handy "chinaman" spin (is that term even used anymore?).

But i remember when South Africa played Australia quite some time ago at the MCG and i was there, Klusener's power was quite something.

If Bevan got over his problem with the short ball at an earlier age he 'could' of been a fine test player.
