Worked fine for almost a year, but in the last 2 months its all gone Pete Tong.

First problem was an overheating cpu, and a failed dvd rom drive. Sent the pc back, it came back with a different stock intel cooler on it & a new dvd rom. So i decided to buy the arctic 7 freezer pro, before it even arrived the pc again died, this time the motherboard failed, fitted a new motherboard and sent it back to me.

Got the pc back last friday, fitted my new cooler and enjoyed ice cold temps, and a non existent fan noise. Then, on sunday, i started getting massive corruption during a stint of pro evo 6 online. Turned the pc off, turned it back on and it wouldnt boot.

Using the bios warning beep codes i knew it was a graphic card failure, the slave card of my 1950xtx appeared to have bit the dust. So i was just running the master card, when at some point on monday, that started doing the same. My thoughts? could be the psu, or both graphic cards have somehow failed within one day.

I phoned up pc specialist, who said my pc must be jinxed, and that they are going to consider building me a completely new system as i have been so unlucky with the problems it has had.

They are coming to collect it again today, so this will have been returned to them 3 times since the 16/7/07.

Just goes to show, even a top spec pc with quality brand parts, can still ****. Damm glad i took out a years warranty, including free pick up and return for an extra 6 pound.

That also includes 1 year warranty, where all parts are replaced for free, thank god hey, or i'd be a rent boy by now. :(

My motherboard has been replaced 4 times, graphics card and RAM twice. They were under 3 year warranty so the company replaced for free. My TV card and PSU have failed twice but they weren't under warranty, I had to buy new ones:( My PC is jinxed too.

Well I'm happy to be on the luckier side of things. Probably jinxed myself right there. Although my laptop hard-disks make it a yearly event to fail.

That's what happens when you buy ATI. Good thing that I have a 3 year complete protection on my laptop so if a random brick came through window and smashed my lappy to pieces, it will be replaced with no extra charge to me.

More likely that's what happens when you overclock ;)

The psu is 700W, and the E6600 can do up to 3.25Ghz on stock voltages. I was carefull with this, running prime95 and other stress test programs for 24 hours with no errors or overheating problems.

No matter how good your powersupply is, when you overclock you are basically running something past spec. Most of the time this is fine (as long as you don't go stupid) but obviously running something past its max rating sometimes can cause failures.

The only reason i bought a E6600 was because they are so overclocking friendly, people can achieve 3.6Ghz with decent cooling and a slight increase of the voltages, mainly because of the less heat produced by them. Thats why they are so popular.

Other than that i didnt overclock anything else. The original overheating cpu was before i started overclocking, and it was my fault as i knocked one of the 775 socket pins out of place when i was testing my ram for caching errors.

Looks like probably its a power error, matt. But since they have replaced so many times and they must have tested it, have a go at your power cable. Faulty power cables are also culprits.

Its back for repair currently, i think they are considering replacing everything inside the pc lol.

But What can cause such errors you will get a brand new machine ?

Well this is what they have replaced in it.

Motherboard
Dvd RW
Intel Core 2 Duo
Both graphic cards

It turns out that they cant find me a Ati 1950xtx, they can only get the x1950 crossfire edition card, so they have said they will give me a free upgrade to a pair of Dual 2900XT's in crossfire. Im mildy excited about this prospect of enjoying 24 x AA, cricket 07 at 1680x1050 24 X AA 16 X AF, could be interesting.
