Both teams went into this match unchanged, and it was Auckland who made the better start.
Akhtar and Mills both got into their work early on, as Northern struggled to 35 for three at the end of the power-play.
Cairns came to the wicket and played a spectacular knock, getting stuck into both Burns and Elliot.
The Gangsters finished on 164 for six, Cairns not out on 82 from just 54 balls.
Auckland did not make the best start to their innings either, losing four wickets with just 27 runs on the board.
Elliot joined Fulton in the middle for the Aces, and they got them right back into the game. Fulton brought up his 50, and got them into the position where they needed 12 off the last over.
Mitchell Johnson was the bowler, and completely outclassed the Aces tail. In the end they fell 10 runs short.
The Gangsters all-rounder Chris Cairns was named man of the match, for his all-round effort with both bat and ball.
