No Active Mixer Devices Available

Hi guys ,

From yesterday randomly anytime my computers voice goes away.. its like if i open a song it dosent play it stays still at 00:00 and when i open the volume control it gives me this:

Then i have to give a restart to my computer and then the sound comes back up again.. then after sometime it again vanishses and this comes up.

My Sound card is Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller and i tried to search for its latest drivers which i found and i installed them aswell and still it is the same.. the latest driver i found was Realtek AC97 Audio Driver 3.92, 5.10.0.6160.

Please Help, it is very annoying .

a driver problem of course.
make sure that the drivers u installed are for your mother board only.
there are many AC97 codecs avalible out there.

2ndly, do a clean install of drivers. i.e. remove the AC97 from sound driver and add remove progams.remove the whole directory AC97 in program files.
then install it again.

Leo so you mean i should remove Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller from the Device Manager?

first from add/remove programs, then from device manager (if listed), then from program files folder
