I posted on the Ubisoft forum, but no-one seems to want to reply, so I'm sure some of you lads will have an answer for me. Is it still worth having the older Brothers in Arms games, even taking into account the slightly dodgy AI of the first two games? I've just started watching 'Band of Brothers', ?15 from HMV, great deal and it's made me want to get BiA as well!

well...i've played Road to Hill 30 but not earned in blood.

tbh....i found BIA to be one of the most realistic first person war game..!
the AI can sometimes be dodgy but you apply all the official patches
and your good to go ! :)

and it has a considerable amount play time unlike COD4 which you can
finish within a day !!!

so a definite go ahead from me !! :D

I have Played BIA, they really made it so realistic that it became very much harder for me, like after firing 1 shot you need time to load another bullet. The theme was really great but not enjoying becasue by that time the enemies have already shoted me :(

Cheers. All I've got to do is find it now. I don't do ebay/playtrade. Game have it for ?1.92 (!) but it's not in stock. Might go trawl the second hand shops...

I've read that the AI is too easy to flank and far too static. Do the official patches help with that?

well...the AI is easy to a certain extent.....but theres no crossfire
and the re-loading times, the strategies used etc make up for it !!
but yeah...the patches do improve the AI to a certain extent....

The whole series for ?15?

'The complete series commemorative gift set' is what it says on the box. Over ten hours on six discs, including previously unseen stuff. What a bargain, eh? Most other places are at least ?10 more!

Speaking of mini series, you might remember this classic from the late eighties. It's called Piece of Cake and it's about a young Spitfire squadron in the early years of the war and I've finally found it on Region 2 UK DVD, for a great price as well. Forget Amazon and their ?40+! Get it here:

http://www.simplyhe.co.uk/Search/piece+of+cake/0/

and only pay a total of ?10.48!

One other thing, I've read that EiB covers much of the same ground as RtH30 and even includes some of the missions from that game. Taking that into account and the fact that the AI in EiB is so much better than RtH30, is the first game still worth getting, or should I jump straight to EiB?

if your getting it at a throw away price, then no harm IMHO !

but if its getting a lil pricey, then jump directly to EIB ! :)

Throw away price! £5 from zavvi, I ordered it just now! (RtH30, that is. EiB is £10 there.) I just love the realism of the combat in these games, it's such a breath of fresh air from games like CoD. When you see a tank in BiA, you just have to yell 'FALL BACK'!! You can't just go and place a sticky bomb on them whenever you want! You have to run, like you would in real life.

Next BiA has to be Battle of the Bulge, wouldn't you agree? After that, I'm not sure where it can go. Also, who's it based on? It isn't Easy Company, because they have a spade symbol on their helmets (as seen in Band of Brothers), whereas the guys in BiA have a heart symbol. Able Company?

Edit: I've posted on the BiA forum, without any result, so I'll ask you guys: Which mods would you say are must haves for the BiA games (singleplayer)?
