Draft: One-Test Wonders

I don’t know if this one’s already been done before, but I certainly couldn’t find it under any of the draft tagged threads. In this draft we shall attempt to build the strongest team possible from a player pool consisting of players who have appeared in only 1 Test match for their country - in other words One-Test Wonders.

As of April 2020, there have been 451 such players over the course of 143 years of Test cricket which ought to be more than enough to fill up 6 teams at the very least assuming there are that many signups. Okay, for the sake of excluding players that have only recently made their Test debuts sometime during the past couple of years and are actually likely to win another Test cap, a minimum of 4 years must have passed since their debuts (unless they’re already retired like a certain Irishman we know) in order for them to be deemed eligible for this draft.

Draft guidelines

The same rules apply as in other drafts i.e the next person may pick if it's been more than 24 hrs and the person before hasn't picked their player, the player picked is invalid, and that you have to tag the person coming after you. It would also be appreciated if you can post a sentence or two about why you're picking a certain player - it doesn't have to be as detailed as this; something like the example posted below would more than suffice:

For eg - ":saf: :wkb: Ken McEwan - His entire first-class career between 1972/73 to 1991/92 coincided with South Africa's isolation from international cricket. In that time he racked up 26668 first-class runs at 41.73 with 74 hundreds, the second most by a non-Test player. Could also serve as a decent backup keeper when called upon."

This man is the third highest ever wicket taker in first class cricket. Alas, he only played 1 test, getting only 2 wickets in that. 3278 wickets at an average of 19 is no joke. He’ll be the strike spinner in my team and could hold his bat at no. 10.

I'll go with a famous one-Test wonder, at least as far as Drafts on PC are concerned, Stuart Law, who made 54* in his only Test innings, and never played again, because there were simply better batsmen available. He was a distinguished batsman for Queensland and later Essex, Lancashire and Derbyshire, finishing with over 27 thousand FC runs at an average of 50.

I'm gonna go with Charles Marriott. He was considered one of the best leg-break bowlers of his time and with 11/96 he possesses the best figures of anyone who played a single test.

"Rodney Redmond was a tall, aggressive opening batsman who hit powerfully off the front foot, as well as being a useful slow left-armer and a sound fielder. Brought into the New Zealand side at the age of 28 for the third Test against Pakistan at Christchurch in 1972-73, he cracked 107 and 56 and was an automatic choice for the 1973 squad to tour England. But he struggled to come to terms with new contact lenses and his form on the trip was poor - he managed 483 runs at 28.41 and did not play in any of the Tests"
