Pakistan Tour of England and Ireland - July/September 2016

Just logged on to PC and I had alert of someone thanking my post, and in the same thread, I found this:

Nah mate you are much worse !

We also scored more than 500 runs in an inning !

Like it or not Pakistan CT is shite!

If I remember clearly, England bowled Australia out for 60 once, right? Forgive me if I'm wrong. :p:p
Also, Pakistan scored more than 500 in one inning ..

We got wacked in one match (the 2nd Test) and that's the only match I think we got wacked by England. In the 3rd match, reverse swing did the trick but we were favorites for half of the match so I don't think we got wacked there. In the 1st and last test, it was all Pakistan!

Not once did we fall to 60 runs, all out .. Not once did we lose a match by an innings and XYZ runs (which Australia) did.. Also, if I remember clearly, didn't Pakistan whitewash Australia in the UAE? What I'm trying to say is we are excellent in home conditions and we are fighters away from home. Australia may be the lions at home but away from home, they are more like cats :lol

Either way, Pakistan is a MUCH BETTER Test team than Australia. We're coming for ya, in a few months! Haha! :D

A satisfying win over ireland. A win was expected right before the match. But I would say a thing one more time, I used to say this when Waqar was there as a coach. The thing is, Make a combination quickly and stop experimenting and giving chances just for the sake that Hey We are giving chances to younger lot. Right from first match, Go with your Best XI which you think can work consistently with 1 or 2 changes here and there in between these matches.

Never follow the last tour selection committee rule which was "Hey, Let's do some experiements till nth time until we reach World Cup 2019"

I shall also want to say a thing which some people may not like here but I shall put what my view is and that is about Azhar Ali. He came into the ODI side undeserving and he has to prove a lot that he is worthy of an ODI side before claiming to be a Captain. He will find it hard for himself and for others to be settled as opener or as an all-rounder. He has self-declared himself as a regular opener so he will try bringing some other partner with him either Sami Aslam/Sharjeel. The better decision would have been that He should come at middle order No. 3 or No. 4 maybe and play the role what Younis/Misbah/Yousaf played in their times and go with two specialist disciplined openers maybe Sami Aslam & Ahmed Shehzad or Sami Aslam & Sharjeel Khan. A player who struggle to make his place in the squad can not take bold on and off field decisions, He will always look less confident in the field and won't lead from the front. History tells it as well, I don't wanna name those players.

As for Sharjeel, He is very splash and his timing is brilliant. He needs to reduce his weight a lot to perform better I guess. Let's see how fairs against England and whether he has the potential to become good or just stay like Imran Nazir...

Talking about the next big things, I feel that Imad is a real talent. He is a fighter and wants to do something for his team always. As for Hasan Ali, They should have given him New ball instead of trying later...

There was nothing wrong with the win but more things wrong with what we would take from that win. Why were Hafeez, Gul and Malik even playing? Even though Malik did perform, he isn't our future.. what are we going to gain by playing by playing Malik against a team like Ireland?

Also, Azhar's summer is about to get a whole lot worse which is good and bad. Good because it just MIGHT get him sacked and dropped because he is an shite ODI player and it COULD BE bad because we might go back and make someone like Malik or Hafeez captain which would suck.

Pakistan need to be smart with how they use Amir. The way they're going with him, he's going to get injured in a pretty bad way when we need him for the important NZ and Aus tours.. Why was he even playing such a pointless match?

I don't understand this hate on Malik. He hasn't done too much wrong since coming back last year. He's a solid middle order batsman and 6th bowler.

Also, it's not bad to have someone with experience in our historically fragile middle order.

Agree with you on the rest.

This is certainly going to be a hell of a series (Pak vs Eng), but I think England still have the upper-hand in this series. I'm going to say that Eng will win 4-1. Even though Pak crushed Ireland, England have a great batting line-up that goes down to No.10 mixed in with that, is they have real quality bowlers. Pakistan's middle order seems a little shaky at the moment, but they can still produce. Hope Hafeez doesn't play:D. Pakistan have an exciting brand of young cricketers. I don't it will be long till they bring Mir Hamza. He's a real pleasure to see bowl.

Batting goes down to 11. Adil Rashid batted there against Sri Lanka.

That's just insane. Pretty much England are made up of allrounders

Wood will presumably bat at number in this series but he's no mug with the bat at all and has a fairly solid technique. Wouldn't be too hopeful of seeing David Willey at least at the start of the series or perhaps in any of it after today.

Well, then batting goes down to No.10 then. Willey is ruled out due to injury sustained to hand. Jake Ball is called up.

Congrats to the Pakistan team officially for becoming No.1 on the Test rankings. They have worked hard, and have down very well. But the thing is, Ind, Aus and Eng are very close so tis going to be hard to maintain that ranking.

Azhar needs to learn how to rotate the strike. Take example from Babar and Sarfraz. They played largely riskless innings at run a ball simply by rotating the strike. You can't play out two maidens in the Powerplay. It's a total waste. If he doesn't improve his S/R, he needs to go.

I think Pakistan are looking for some solidity at the top. Someone who can anchor the fifty overs. Unfortunately, they are adopting a ten year old policy. I think Babar Azam and Mohommad Nawaz were impressive. Pakistan need to just bat Malik at 4. They need someone to partner Sharjeel Khan at the top and Hafeez is not the answer to a number 3 in any format. If you ask me, I'd put Sarfaraz up at the top, drop Ali and Hafeez and make Malik the skipper till the 2019 WC! But then, I thought Ali and Younus would be hopeless in the tests abroad and I ate some proper humble pie.

Categorically Pakistan's ODI mentality is still ten year old-fashioned. A forced captain carrying the baggage of some forced players.[DOUBLEPOST=1472126055][/DOUBLEPOST]

That's most probably because of Inzamam having good friendship with these lads. I won't be surprized to see Salman butt, Kamran Akmal and Shahid Afridi in future under Inzy's tenure... but for how long..? I feel like the era of these guys have gone. You can't milk them more...

We need changes in the team similar to what happened after 2003 Worldcup i.e remove all the senior players and induct fresh players. Azhar Ali should only play test matches and if he really want to play in ODIs then he should join county OD team for couple of years to improve his game. He does not deserve captaincy of any domestic OD team let alone Pakistan's ODI team. We need an aggressive and street smart captain and the only logical choice is Sarfraz Ahmed.
