Now Ian Bell can really prove his critics wrong....now it matters....
Few of my friends that were regular posters during the Ashes are missing. Anyway.
Yep....right on cue....the formula: if Bell = struggle to fourty, fail to convert = exit
Hang on, surely @bigred will be along in a minute to claim it was a heroic knock, worth 280 on another track...
This was Ian Bells lowest strike rate in a series where he faced more then 200 balls... Wonder how long they had to go back to find one of those!
I think we've established that Moeen Ali shouldn't open going forward, so he'll go down and slot in at number 7 in SA. Most of you don't seem to want Bell in the team, so who comes into the middle order?
Hales will get his chance opening with Cook. Taylor and Root would probably be at 3 and 4. Bairstow would have the gloves and bat at 6. So that means the number 5, plus the reserve batting spots are available. It doesn't look like Stokes will be around.
Suggestions?
I'd carry on picking Bell if he doesn't retire, as I think there are very few options. I suppose the candidates would be Ballance, Hildreth, Morgan and Vince.
