The finals are fast approaching with only one round of regular season play remaining. Let's see how things are panning out:​

Group A

Durban Bulldogs (8pts, NRR: +0.307): Durban are guaranteed a spot in the finals. But whether they play a major or minor semifinal is still to be decided. If they win their match against Chennai, they will play a major semi. However if they lose and Bloemfontein win their match, Durban and Bloemfontein would be equal on points but would slip to second due to Bloemfontein's much higher NRR.

Bloemfontein Bucks (6pts, NRR: +0.801): Thanks to their superb NRR, Bloemfontein have basically booked their finals berth. A chance to sneak into first is open if Durban lose their match and Bloemfontein defeat Delhi.

Delhi Warriors (4 pts, NRR: -0.004): A trip to the finals would require a win of mythic proportions against Bloemfontein. Barring that, Delhi will miss out.

Chennai Comets (2 pts, NRR: -1.124): No chance of reaching the finals but could help Bloemfontein's bid to finish top of Group A by beating Durban.


Group B

Waikato Warriors (8 pts, NRR: +0.377): A place in the major semifinal awaits Waikato. No pressure exists upon them for their next game against Wellington, who are already out.

Sydney Stallion (6 pts, NRR: -0.091): The equation is rather simple for Sydney; win and they qualify for the finals. Lose, and NRR will come into play to split Sydney and Gold Coast.

Gold Coast Crusaders (4 pts, NRR: -0.140): Things are a bit trickier for Gold Coast. They would have to win by a big enough margin that they overhaul Sydney's NRR. Losing, however, would result in elimination.

Wellington Thunderbirds (2 pts, NRR: -0.143): Knocked out with the round 5 loss. They would be aiming to end the season on a high by defeating Waikato, a team who they are yet to conquer.
