It's back, finally! First, I would like to thank Simbazz (Simon), ex-chairman of the PCPL and his team who initiated this wonderful thing and we had 3 cracking seasons of the PCPL! It was indeed end of an era when PCPL was officially called off after season 3.

Having said that, I hope season 4 of the Planet Cricket Premier League will mark the beginning of a new era. We call it 'Year of the C. O. Stars'. The Cross Over stars are megastar athletes from other sports who have decided to try their hand at cricket. They have been divided into two groups of 5 each. Group A and Group B. Everyday from now, I'll reveal one star and after all the stars have been revealed, the teams can start bidding on them.

Team creation will be done by you. For a team to join the PCPL, 4 owners are a must. Owners will set aside some amount of vcash which will be used as team's finances in addition to money from the PCPL management. More vcash, the better although a salary cap will be in operation.

Anyone can make a proposal for a team and then you can attract other people to join you to make it 4 owners in all. These maybe people with good graphics skill (you will surely need those for kits, logo, etc.) or someone who is super rich! How you attract them is totally up to you! After all the ten crossover stars have been revealed, the team proposals will be closed and we will finalize the teams from the proposed ones. There are a number of factors which will be taken into consideration and the final decision will be made by the PCPL management.

Before making proposals for a team, you will need to sign up. Only people who have signed up for the PCPL will be allowed to make proposals.

The simulator and the formats are yet to be decided but, if all goes as planned we will be revealing that information very soon!

Below are some guidelines for when the first auction starts on Saturday 9 Feb. The star player auctions will be followed by a draft/auction for pool players. The draft element is to speed the process up.

Star player auctions (Groups A and B)

- The team owner must nominate any shareholder with the power to bid for the team to PCPL Management.
- The team should agree on their bidding tactics in advance. If teams are worried about not having a nominated shareholder active during the auction they can PM instructions to PCPL Management to raise the bid until a preset amount.
- The auction for each player will close when there have been no bids for 12 hours. The next auction will then start immediately.
- If teams do not plan to bid for a player please let PCPL Management know as it may allow us to speed up the process.
- Any star players unsold will be moved down into the next tier and their abilities will also change.

Player auctions (Groups C, D and E)

- Players will be divided into 3 equal pools of about 16 players. The pools will be decided randomly.
- Owners and shareholders will not be in the auction. Their abilities will be determined randomly by PCPL Management with two being Group C and two Group D.
- Before each bidding round teams will be able to submit a note of interest in players they would like to pick up. These should be ranked in order.
- Before bidding begins teams will then be offered at reserve price any players they have expressed interest in where they are the only team to do so.
- If another team also shows interest the player will proceed to be auctioned as normal.

General notes

- Each group will have a reserve price which is the minimum a player can be sold for.
- Any unsold players in a group will move to the next group and their abilities will change, as with star players.
- Any team exceeding the salary cap will have the abilities of players bought at their reserve price downgraded until they are within it.
- Each squad must have 14 players.
- Reserve prices and salary caps will be revealed once all teams have submitted a budget.

That is the final list. Let me remind you all once again, it was completely random. No changes (any sort of) will be allowed for the above players. The signups are still open though for the last minute entries and they will close when the first auction thread is put up which will probably be on Saturday. So, if you haven't yet signed up, make sure you do so now!

PCPL 4 salary cap is set at $1,000,000 which means a team can spend a maximum of $1,000,000 for buying the players, not more than that. The PCPL management will provide each team with an extra $400,000 for the auctions which will be added to the team owner's account before the auction gets underway.

For more info about the auctions, please read post #2 of this thread.

You can discuss your player groups in the sign up thread and the teams can start planning according to their respective budgets till we wait for the final C. O. Star to be revealed!

Player type changes

Just so everyone know, we are not allowing any player type changes. Teams need to keep this in mind while picking the remaining players. If you think you can convert your spare batsman/any role to a needed AR or any other role, you must stop. Any such requests/demands will be ignored.

Mr Modi

Quick note to say that Mr Modi will be only intermittently available for the next couple of weeks so please direct all PMs to me. We're also looking for a third simmer to help us once matches start. Again PM me if you are interested (EE, BBR, JB and AH only).

Home Grounds

Please can each team PM me or post in their thread the name and characteristics of their home ground. The following parameters are needed:

Width: 65-80
Length: 65-80
Swing: negligible/insubstantial/below average/average/above average/moderate/high/maximal
Seam: negligible/insubstantial/below average/average/above average/moderate/high/maximal
Spin:negligible/insubstantial/below average/average/above average/moderate/high/maximal
Outfield: Slow/Moderate/Fast

So for example we would require

Team Name: Duckton Dillattantes
Ground Name: Shrek's Swamp (kind loan from the Donkeys)
Width: 65
Length: 65
Swing: Maximal
Seam: Negligible
Spin: Insubstantial
Outfield: Slow

These grounds will be entered into the sim. Adjustments will be able to be made as the season progresses. You're not stuck with that you choose now.

PCPL shop - coming soon

With fixtures for PCPL4 due to begin on Monday we are today announcing the setting up of the PCPL shop for all your extra vcash. Teams will be able to buy batting, bowling, technical or intensive coaching for their players to learn new abilities and boost their skills. A full price list will be published before the weekend.

Bowling/batting coaching: players can increase their skill level with one-on-one coaching. They will be able to gain a maximum of 1 point per round of fixtures.
Technical coaching: players can work with a specialist to develop a new skill, such as the ability to become a pure batter rather than an all-rounder or to bowl legspin rather than medium pace.
Intensive coaching: With a team of staff dedicated entirely to them players can jump an entire skill level in just 3 rounds of fixtures.

As with the auctions the amount that teams can spend in the shop will be capped.

Fixtures released and Activity bonuses announced

With the unveiling of the Fixture Calender we're also announcing the Activity Bonus Point system in use this year.

All members of the squad must have a minimum of two posts in the match thread for each round of the Pro40 and 4 Day competitions. Moderators will be deleting any posts classed as spam.

Teams should keep track of all members who make their two posts in each round and, during the mid-season break and before the end-of-season finals, activity can be converted into bonuses as follows:

2 posts in all 5 Rounds - 4 point boost
2 posts in 4 rounds - 3 point boost
2 posts in 3 rounds - 2 point boost
2 posts in 2 rounds - 1 point boost
This will repeat after the mid-season break - posts can be carried forward.

These bonuses can be added to either batting or bowling ability. It is the responsibility of teams and not the PCPL to keep track of bonuses gained and spot checks will be carried out to ensure accuracy.

Posts will only be accepted up to 24 hours after the match is posted by the simmer.
