I think it's too hasty on your part. Infact, Nick had told me that he might hold a KO tournament before the actual comp. If that happens, then he is most likely to open the trade window after the KOs (so that the managers have a good idea of what they are lacking). [This is all speculation, but it's better than starting trading without the league runner's permission]

If he does that then the trade will be done after the KO Tourn. but yeah we can't confirm a trade without the league owners permission ....we are just saying who we will trade after the trade window starts.
