A shortened match proved quite fruitful for Northern Areas, who won the toss and managed to restrict Janoobi Punjab to 102/7 with Kagiso Rabada's 3/17 headlining the first innings. However, even a seemingly straightforward target of 103 was never going to be an easy task in these conditions, which was made quite evident when Saurabh Netravalkar struck thrice in the second over to leave the home team reeling at 11/3. Rohit Sharma however, blazed away for a quickfire fifty at the very top against some wayward bowling to deny Janoobi Punjab three crucial points, securing them instead, for the Northern Areas in an emphatic 6-wicket win, in spite of the early jolts.
