India off to a rollicking start - 66/1

India off to a rollicking start - 66/1

Unperturbed by the fall of Gautam Gambhir in the first over of the innings for 4 runs, India's premier batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag have started to cart the Hampshire bowlers and in the process have put up 66 for the loss off 1 wicket after 10 overs! Sachin Tendulkar revived his battle with Shane Warne and won the first round heavily by hitting the leg spinner for 12 runs off his 2 overs! Sehwag not one to be bogged by Sachin at the other end, found his touch and hit a huge six and looks to be in good touch.

Partnership: 62

India need 213 runs to win off 40 overs

15 over UPDATE - India lose Sehwag for 28 - 93/2

India 138/3 (26.0 overs)

India require 141 runs to win off 24 overs at 5.88 per over

Sachin Tendulkr 45* | Saurav Ganguly 12* | Rahul Dravid 10

Brief Commentary: Boundaries hard to come by! Bowlers putting pressure on the batsmen! Tendulkar starting to lose patience! Two dropped catches at square leg that reprieves Tendulkar who was on 40* and 42*! Required run rate now up to 6.18 per over!

i have a Chance .... SLIM CHANCE

You have a great chance!

Sachin Tendulkar is OUT! Yuvraj and Ganguly are in the middle!

Forgot to note down the score. But the required run rate is around 6.5 per over with 15 overs to go! Right now in college... will post detailed update soon!

Ganguly leads Indian fight!

Ganguly 66* - India need 54 off 60 balls!

40overupdate6av.jpg

Brief Commentary: India who were under pressure needing 6.5 runs per over off the last 15 overs reduced the run rate drastically to 5.4 per over due to some amazing hitting by the Indian captain Saurav Ganguly! Ganguly who was not out on 38* at the end of 35 overs zoomed past 50 and is not out on 66* off 61 balls. Ganguly took the Hampshire spinners Warne and Katich for special treatment, blazing them for sixes straight down the ground. He has so far hit 6 sixes in this innings and is still not finished. At this rate, India might look to finish off the game in the 46th or thr 47th over itself.

44 over UPDATE - India need 33 off 36 balls!

Yuvraj and Dhoni are OUT giving Hampshire a leeway of a chance here at Leicester as both teams get readyt to enter the final phase of the game! India need 33 runs off 36 balls and Hampshire need 4 wickets to finish this game off! Saurav Ganguly is not out on 81* and is in prime form. He remains vital for India to win this game from now on! Hampshire can sense a real chance here as the remaining India batsmen are tail enders who can fall under pressure!

45 over UPDATE - India truly in front!

Ganguly is almost leading India to a very comprehensive victory over Hampshire! India need 25 off 30 balls with Ganguly on 88* with 8 sixes. Harbhajan is not out on 0* out there supporting Dada (his captain!).

46 over UPDATE - Harbhajan OUT!

Harbhajan was OUT when he senselessly slashed at a ball to square leg where the catch was easily taken! It was stupidity from Harbhajan when he ought to have stayed with his captain till the end. India need 24 off 24 balls!

47 over UPDATE - Ganguly 3 short of century!

Ganguly is 3 short of a century and is 3 short of breaking the record for the most number of individual sixes in an innings! It has been a six filled innings from Ganguly! India now need 15 runs off 18 balls at 5 per over! Should prove to be easy if the batsmen dont commit harikiri!

48 over UPDATE - Ganguly reaches hundred in style!

Ganguly reached his hundred in style flicking Tremlett for a fine four! It has been a brilliant ODI innings with the hundred coming off 90 balls! India now just need 7 runs to win off 2 overs! Dropping shoulders seen among the Hampshire players!

India win by 2 wickets against Hampshire

Saurav Ganguly led India to a comprehensive win against Hampshire by 2 wickets! Though he could not break the record for the most sixes, he at least ensured that India remained unbeaten throughout this tournament which has been plagued by various controversies! Zaheer Khan remained not out on 2* as Hampshire also put up a creditable bowling performance!
