Was just having a read of some of the more general news on Cricinfo when this article caught my eye.

Irfan Rabbani managed to score 304 out of a total of 438 in a 50 over league game (Toronto 1st division).

Now, I know some people will question the standard and all that but I still think its a great effort to make that kind of score off 50 overs. Indeed by what I gather the pitches in Canada tend to be fairly average which means that this is a really decent effort.

Link to the scorecard here.

That is some effort to do that even with the low playing standards, quite amazing really seeing as his score alone is what we consider a good total.

Pitches in America, and from experience are pretty low, nothing in it for any type of bowler, and can decieve batsmen, its pretty shoddy BUT its improving. Canada probably a little quicker than USA. But its an amazing total to put in!

And i know about the pitches because ive trained on them :p and my two Cousins play in the Californian league!

That is a very good effort. His teamates didn't help him out too much - the next highest score was 57. He also picked up one wicket. I think it is pretty safe to say he got the man of the match award.

Thats some top batting. If the rest of the teams got ducks that would still had been a good team total!

That's an awesome effort. Absolutely amazing! Why are the American league all full of Pakistani's?

It's the same thing as happens in a lot of countries. In the absence of a strong local interest, the only parts of the community that are able to provide competitive cricketers are ethnic groups formed by descendents of cricket playing poepol and expatriates

Well you can question the standard of competiton because I doubt this would ever happen against any decent or so bowling attack.

Good score nevertheless, didn't Marcus Trescothick better this in a club game once?

must have been medium pacers with no movement or pace bowling outside off stump and straying onto leg-stump

Top batting....Andrew Flintoff once hit 228 not out (i think) in a 20 over game, which works out at abetter run rate, whether he could have kept it up for the remaining 30 overs if it was a 50 over game, and whether he would have batted the same way in a 50 over game, but still it works out quicker run rate

well, don't try to guess...what it is

I'm pretty sure neither you nor I would be able to do such a feat.

acknowledge it, and end it.

* You can question the standard but the application to bat and make that enormous score is still impressive.
