I think a maximum of 2 (ideally 1) players should be allowed to be retained if there will be new team(s) added for season 7. If no new teams are gonna be added, the 4 player retention policy like last time sounds good.

My Picks:

1. CSK - MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina
2. DD - Virender Sehwag, Kevin Pietersen
3. KXIP - None
4. KKR - Sunil Narine, Gautam Gambhir
5. MI - Lasith Malinga(or Mitchell Johnson), Rohit Sharma
6. RR - Rahul Dravid (if available)
7. RCB - Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli
8. SRH - Dale Steyn (Maybe), Shikhar Dhawan

----------

And going by the reports that 3 teams aren't in favor of retention, the 3 could be KXIP, DD and RR.

I totally agree with you about only 2 retention surely this should be the way to go rather than 4 since even if there would be 8, 9 or 10 teams it gives a fair amount of chance to built a strong unit and ensures even dispersion of players and obviously we can see a new franchise making the cut (THE TROPHY). According to the report KXI, RR and SRH are the ones who are not interested in retention policy. I can understand why they are not since KXI have only miller to pick and RR tough the have quality players the problem is their availablity and SRH the really need a set of good indian players and they got only S.Dawan and Mishra tough they got Dale styne yet the need a complete overhaul. My Picks:
1. CSK - MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jedaja
2. DD - Virender Sehwag,
Kevin Pietersen
3. KXIP - Divid Miller
4. KKR - Sunil Narine, Gautam
Gambhir
5. MI - Lasith maling or Pollard, Rohit
Sharma
6. RR - Watson, Binny
7. RCB - Chris Gayle, Virat
Kohli
8. SRH - Mishra,
Shikhar Dhawan and
9. PWI - Complete over haul (If they are still in the league)

Considering age as the factor csk would retain raina instead of hussey.

Michael Hussey being retained is unlikely. He is aged, doesn't play much competitive cricket, is an overseas player and except the last season, he has been ordinary for CSK.
Raina is a more safer and smarter bet.

I dont think the player retain rules are out yet. According to me, a team should be allowed to retain just one indian capped player and one international capped player.

I never knew Dhoni/Raina belongs to a non indian nationality. :rolleyes

And i never knew Miller/Marsh belongs to an indian nationality :rolleyes

----------

That would most likely mean Viru and KP for us! :D

Why not David Warner/ Morne Morkel? :)

----------

Assuming the retention rule to be what i suggested:

CSK-Dhoni and A.Morkel

RR-Rahane and Watson

DD-Sehwag and M.Morkel

KKR-Gambhir and Lee

SRH-Dhawan and Sammy (I didnt say Steyn because he deserves a much better team and a much better pay).

MI-Rohit and Malinga

KX1P-Mandeep and Harris

RCB-Virat and ABD/Gayle( Very tough to call, but ABD is a cricketer :D)
