What make/model of cricket bat do you reccomend purchasing. A store near me has upto 50% discounts on all bats.

From your experience, of course.

Gray Nicolls Phoenix Titanium. Endorsed by Australia's Matthew Hayden and New Zealand's Chris Cairns, high quality bat with a retail price of ?200. It's yours for ?100 at that store.

Or, try the Gray Nicolls Millenium Destroyer. I use this. Got my highest score with it too. Shows the cherry marks. Very high quality. Retail price ?20. Yours for ?10 at that store.

Hehe, not all bats are 50% off, just a hand full (note the word 'upto') all are at least 25% off, some 30%, some 40%..

Most of the bats were Gray Nicolls, there were some Kookaburra and a couple of Slazengers.

I currently have a Gray Nicolls GN250 Fibretec, not sure how good that is.

The store is a fair bit away, and I will be able to get a lift there tomorrow. I am just going to see what bat feels comfortable, or I may save up. Keep the reccomendations coming! :)

Just beacuse Hayden and the likes use the Phoenix, doesnt make it the bat to get. Its about preferance, the only way you'll be able to choose the right bat for you, is by going to that shop, and trying every bat there is in your price range...theres a low limit as to how much we can help you, just try the bats that the specialist recommends, and see which one feels the best!

That is more or less what I just typed. Maybe you posted at the same time as me? Also, you are not too far away from the shop, it's in Surrey.

what it really comes down to, though few will admit it, is the colour of the bat and how the bat looks when you use it. no batsman really cares at heart where the "power swell" is or wtf it does, but the do all love to look cool when they play their shots. pictures on the back of the bat are becoming more common, why? because it strengthens the bat? for added shot power? no! because it looks cool. having a crazy looking beast on the back of your bat looks awesome. thunder strikes are neat. the woodworm bats have those neat little grooves in the edges. this also explains why there are no bats with pink grips. batsmen don't like pink. think about it. you know i'm right.

What about those of us who have no manufacturers on our bat?are we doing this too be cool, or just cos we couldnt get a sponsor?

depends if your getting a gray nicolls, powerbow has a low middle and predator has a high, pheonix is inbetween so just think about where you hit most of your shots:)
