Wow, what a match, pure slog fest!! It's incredible that they can keep the pace up so high over 5 hours, and yet they seemed to be hitting the ball harder as the match went on! Longest match ever at the Aussie Open.

Like I said, I've seen Vardasco play in an earlier match in Australian Open (against Murray) and he was pretty good. I am not surprised to see that the result eventually was like this.

Nadal won with 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (1-7) 6-4.

Verdasco hit 95 winners. The match lasted five hours and 14 minutes.

Verdasco made eventually a double-fault to end the longest men's singles match in Australian Open history.
