Random Thoughts

My mate went down the ChCh for work. Can't get a hold of him 'cause phone lines are down. News also says they've run out of ambulances such is the extent of the earthquake.

Yeah it's awful to hear and see the pictures on TV. I don't think there's been any reported deaths yet but I must say I will be surprised if there isn't any fatalities.

I've been hosting a guy from Christs College the past two nights and was just talking about the September quake with him this morning. They'll be having a very anxious bus ride home now no doubt. I'm just happy the inter-school was down here this year.

Ok multiple fatalities :(

This one is far worse than the September one, not just because of the time of day but there just seems to be so much more damage to the city than the other one.

Despite being only 6.3 compared to the September one being 7.1, it was closer to the city and was at a much shallowed depth which would make it feel much bigger.

Plus it happened in the middle of the day, when most people were in or near the city centre instead of in the early hours of the morning. Also, many people were out getting lunch so that's a bit fortunate.

fearsome tweak, I just heard about it an hour ago. It looks to be terrible from looking at the pictures and reading about it.

Not to mention I know a few people who went down to Canterbury Uni just last week, and others who went down to Otago Uni on the weekend also felt it.

I hope there is not much loss of life there. My heart goes out to the people of Christchurch. May God give them the courage to get through this ordeal.

So far 65 are confirmed dead, and it is likely to increase by quite a bit.

████, I had no idea it had been so bad.

Prime Minister John Key has told reporters that the death toll from today's magnitude 6.3 earthquake stands at 65 and is likely to rise.

Speaking from Christchurch after flying down this afternoon, Mr Key told One News it was likely the quake would prove to be New Zealand's "darkest day".

Lol, you just bet me to it Jono. :p

This really is terrible, some of the stuff on the news is hard to watch. I was in Christchurch just a couple of weeks after the last one and I though that was bad but this is just horrific.
