Rohit Sharma = Overrated

Sharma is no Dravid, nor in the mould of Dravid, nor who we should be looking at to replace Dravid. He is more of a Tendulkar-in-the-middle-order.

Give him some time... He is learning from his mistakes! Do you remember how Raina struggled in Caribbean and in SA after promising starts to his career? Give him some time.. He has hit his down-curve and I am sure he will rise up again!

Two players of late Indian squad who never bothered to rise after promising starts to their career were,

  • Md. Kaif
  • Irfan Pathan

Sharma is lot better than those two. Atleast, Sharma is willing to make come back.. Those two whom I spotted, are rusted already!

Kaif > Sharma.

He's played almost 40 ODI's, suren. He's only reached 50 four times. He averages 28. We've given him all the time in the world, he's a deadweight.

Give him some time

How much time? Don't you think a long period of three years 2007, 2008, 2009 is more than enough? He still averages below 25, and what good is he doing to the team? Just an extra load, I think. And it's really surprising how players like Sourav Ganguly used to get dropped for failing in just two/three matches and how a player like Rohit Sharma is continuing to tour with the team even after failing in ninety percent of the matches he has played.

looking at all the domestic talent in India I am surprised that he has lasted this long.

I don't know why I can alone see some talents in Rohit Sharma still. As I said, he is going down currently which happens to every cricketer. Over-rated or Under-rated, his loads of talents should not go wasted.

I really hope Gary has some solution to Rohit Sharma. I remember Sehwag saying that he has improved a lots with Gary. So, now its sharma's time to spend more time with our coach. :)

His knock in CB series with Sachin was indeed a cause of the main victory.. Lets not forget that! :)

Really Suren, I see no talent whatsoever in Sharma. His running between the wickets is below par, worst runner in the Indian team right now (Was involved in two crucial runouts in that Auckland ODI and almost got himself out three times) and his batting is horrible as well. Where do you find "talent" in him?

Not only Rohit Sharma, many of our players lack motivation. Sehwag got stripped of Vice Captaincy and was out from Indian side as well. Let Rohit hit the domestic circuit and make a come back..

As I said before, over-rated or under-rated, he is a talented players. He needs right motivation to trigger his skills. :onpc

One knock is nothing Suren. It's consistency which matters the most.

King Cricket added 2 Minutes and 0 Seconds later...

That's a good point. Yeah, we should drop him from our first team and let him go back to the dom level and see whether he performs.

Just because of one or two series, he became a terrible runner? Then what do you call Dravid, Laxman and Sourav? He is a brilliant fielder..I still remember one of the direct hits in recent ODIs. He was playing his shots well.. I still remember Ind Vs SA, T20 in SA.. the six which brought his half century.. It's not too many years that he struck his down-curve. He got trapped and went into it, I am confident, he will come up as a match winner.

These guys like Uthappa, Karthik, Rohit Sharma do have loads of talents in them:)
