Was gonna post this in the Sedition laptop thread :)

I've been waiting for a new Rome for so long :D

It looks amazing!

Some highlights for me so far:

There will be naval bombardments and shore landings.
We will be thinking not in terms of individual units, but entire Legions.

Actually, I better not get into this, otherwise this post will take up about five pages. :D

I just can't wait. The campaign in Rome always felt more believable. The family members fitted their characters more. I also enjoyed slaughtering the dirty rotten Spanish.

Carthage also demonstrates the changes coming to the series. There is now only one battle-type: battles are not split between sieges, naval battles and open field engagements. Naval units can be combined with infantry combat which can be combined with siege combat. Troops can be brought to shore, landed, set up siege towers, and then advance into a city - all while the navy bombards the city walls.

Ohhhhh boy!! :cheers :cheers Love ya, CA!

Sedition was playing the original Rome on his lappy not long back :)

Planet Cricket to Sedition: Come in! Rome 2 Total War has been announced!! :lol

Lol awesome. I'm waiting another week for the 680M video card to be released, then probably 2 weeks more for the laptop to arrive.. then I'll be all over this :p

I tried out the original Medieval Total War a few days ago, but it kept crashing. From what I saw graphically, Rome was a pretty big improvement anyways.

Yeah the ones before Rome don't really hold up to the test of time. However Medieval 2 is really good. Shogun 2 (most recently released one) is supposed to be pretty good. This should be awesome, as Rome just seems to lend itself really well to the setup.

I'm going to see if I can get a few of the earlier ones in a package deal or something on Steam when the time comes. Just hope there aren't any more delays.. back with my girlfriend, so I've gotta piss away my savings before it's too late :p

Haha good idea :p Steam sale starts sometime in the next week or two :D

Almost certainly find the entire back catalogue for no more than ?20. That will probably be Shogun 2, Medieval 2, Empire, Napolean and all the recentish ones that are worth playing. Especially with Rome 2 announced. Add me on steam dude if you can. Username is still puddleduck I think. Sometimes I end up with games to gift to people ;)

I haven't used Steam yet, but will add you when I finally get the new laptop :) Gonna get you onto BF or something and just blow your freaking kneecaps away for a good hour or so :p

Will definitely go for the post-Rome versions. Not sure when I'll get around to playing all these games though, got a lot to catch up on from the last few years :p

Heh, you need to get steam installed for the steam summer sales at least. Can get all the games you're going to want purchased during it, then just load up the account on your new laptop and let them all install.

Heh, some co-op gaming for sure, hopefully the connection from Aus to UK won't be too bad.
