Welcome to Match 1 of Social Distancing Cup 2020. We are live from Sydney Cricket Ground where the Bulldogs will take on the Eagles in a historic T20 match. Bulldogs captained by Steve Smith is a solid team featuring some of the most versatile T20 talents and Eagles led by Rohit Sharma features a team full of well experienced players. On paper, Bulldogs definitely look like a stronger side and will start as favorites.

Lets go meet the two captains for the toss!

Rohit Sharma and David Warner opened the innings for Eagles and had a good 50 runs opening partnership. Rohit as usual was casual to his approach and David Warner was explosive from the beginning. After loosing Rohit and Shai Hope in quick succession, Warner and Taylor tried building up a nice partnership. Soon Warner departed and Eagles sent in Sarfaraz Ahmed in place of Stokes or Matthews. Taylor kept the runs flowing but Sarfaraz was not able to connect properly. It looked like there was something in the pitch for the bowlers and Sarfaraz's inning might give hopes to Eagles for their star studded bowling lineup.

Not a bad total in the end, it will be interesting to see if Bulldog's star studded batting lineup will be able to chase 178 or not.

The explosive pair of Quinton de Kock & Jason Roy opened the innings for Bulldogs and de Kock departed in the very first over for a duck to Jarvis. Umpire initially signaled not out and Sharma straight away opted for DRS as we could hear a big nick. Virat Kohli came out to bat at no 3 and and after hitting few boundaries got himself caught and bowled to a spectacular catch by Kyle Jarvis who got this second wicket in 2 overs he bowled. Smith and Roy carried on the innings where Roy played the aggressor and Smith the strike rotator. Roy departed on 32 chopping his stumps from his English team mate Ben Stokes. Shakib al Hasan followed Roy and Bulldogs got themselves to 53/4. Dre Russel was the next man and he got going from the ball 1. Smith on the hand kept struggling to real disciplined bowling from Eagles. Angelo Mathews and Stokes kept real tight along with some good spin overs from Rashid Khan. In the end it was too much for Jimmy Neesham who scored 31 of just 20 deliveries and Bulldogs lost by 13 runs. What was surprising is despite Kasigo Rabada's injury, Eagles bowling was still lethal and disciplined.

Smith, really? And Stokes should've been at 5 or 6 at least

What do you think of the team combo overall? That was my thinking! I feel Eagles are a little weak but have some fantastic match winners.

They got the batting order wrong. In the Pakistan team, Sarfraz at 5 was something I advocated to death. But when you have Mathews, Stokes and Rashid, I would've put them at 5-6-7 and Sarfraz as a specialist keeper. Might be harsh, but he is unsuited to 6 and 7, imo, and if those position are filled, I would put him at 8.

The match was great, although I don’t understand why Shai Hope was there from Windies when they have loads of specialist T20 stars :p
He was the only person to clear covid test :spy

Welcome to match number 2 between the Bulldogs and the Eagles. We saw how Eagles overcame Bulldogs batting in match 1 which was viewed by 1.2 million viewers. We are back for match 2 and Steven Smith has won the toss once again and this time elected to bat first.

Roy and de Kock opened the innings for Bulldogs and had a brilliant partnership. Roy continued his form from last match and de Kock who chopped on to the stumps played with better concentration. Both soon reached 50 partnership before de Kock once again dragged the ball onto his stump. Rain arrived and the match was reduced to 17 over contest. Roy continued his good touch and Kohli played a run a ball inning. Kohli like Smith's previous inning looked out of touch. Rain arrived the second time and did not let Bulldogs resume their inning. The match was now reduced to 8 overs a side.

Match 2 - Bulldogs Batting.png

Eagles came out to bat requiring 88 runs in 8 overs. Warner and Sharma had no time to adjust and had to get going from ball 1. David Warner hit a beautiful boundary before getting caught and bowled to Mpofu. Sharma once again never got going and Eagles kept losing wicket. Ross Taylor and Angelo Mathews tried their best but in the end Eagles lost by 5 runs.
