Sri Lanka tour of India

Not a fan of this Shreyas Iyer selection. Gill did not get as much credit as Pant for Oz but that innings was equally important and he has not done much wrong. Was a great opportunity to put him at 3.

Gill in place of Vihari made sense. Vihari isn't the future. Its a matter of time before he is sidelined. Shreyas is the future and has been in great touch as well. My bets that Vihari will probably be playing his last series here.

I don't disagree that Gill hasn't done much of a wrong and he is our future but again he played that Gabba innings as an opener and not as a no.3. I feel a no.3 in Test Cricket is even more important than your opener. That kind of a player should be able to absorb the entire pressure of the batting line-up and bat as long as possible. We played KLR as a no.3 in Edgbaston and saw the result back in 2018.

We had a Rahul Dravid & Pujara batting at 3 for more than 2 decades for that very same reason. Look at England, they prospered when Root batted at 3 for them until the Ashes. A major extent of Steve Smith's Test career have come as a no.3 and that is why he was so successful.

I feel either Pujara needs to comeback or bat Vihari at 3 until we find someone to take over.

This is ridiculous - just throwing wickets away after getting such solid starts

T20 generation ?
