Auction guidelines

- Before the auction starts, teams are requested to send me a list of their auction targets in order of preference via private conversation as it will allow us to speed up the process.

- Teams will be allowed to buy a maximum of 3 star players each in the auction. A minimum of 2 star players must be bought in the auction, and teams can choose to skip the third if they so wish.

- The team owner must nominate any shareholder with the power to bid for the team to PCPL Management.

- Each team has a starting budget of $250,000. Use it carefully, because you'll have to buy PC players in later auctions within the same budget.

- Each group will have a reserve price which is the minimum a player can be sold for.

- Each squad must have a total of 14 players (including owners/investors). No more than two star players are allowed in the playing XI.

- The teams should agree on their bidding tactics in advance. If teams are worried about not having a nominated shareholder active during the auction they can PM instructions to PCPL Management to raise the bid until a preset amount.

- Before the bidding begins, teams will be offered at reserve price a player they have expressed interest in via private conversation where they were the only team to do so.

- The minimum amount by which a bid should be raised to beat another bid is $2,000.

- Any team exceeding the salary cap will have the abilities of players bought at their reserve price downgraded until they are within it.

- The auction for each player will close when there have been no bids for 12 hours. The next auction will then start immediately.

- Deletion of bids are not allowed. They are there to stay unless anyone exceeds your bid.

- Any star players unsold will be moved down into the next tier.

Star Player #1 - David Hemp ($10,000)

689423.html

Full name: David Lloyd Hemp
DOB: November 8, 1970 (Age 44)
Country: :ber: Bermuda
Role: Specialist top-order batsman
Batting style: Left-hand bat
Bowling style: Will not bowl
Playing status: Retired from FC & List-A cricket since 2011. Has continued to represent Bermuda in T20 cricket.

Short bio

"David Hemp may not be a household name, but even in his 45th year he remains his country's leading batsman. With a good ODI record and 30 first-class centuries, Hemp may be a good low-budget option for a cash-strapped franchise." - The Author

Star Player #2 - Glen Chapple ($10,000)

630125.html

Full name: Glen Chapple
DOB: January 23, 1974 (Age 41)
Country: :eng: England
Role: Bowling all-rounder
Batting style: Right-hand bat
Bowling style: Right-arm medium-fast
Playing status: Playing county cricket as of 2015, but only the FC format.

Short bio

"Taker of almost 1,000 first-class wickets and scorer of six first-class centuries, it seems deeply puzzling that Glen Chapple only ever played one ODI. All the same, he remains an able and canny performer despite being well into his forties." - The Author

Star Player #3 - Lameck Onyango ($10,000)

398047.html

Full name: Lameck Onyango Ngoche
DOB: September 22, 1973 (Age 41)
Country: :ken: Kenya
Role: Seam bowler
Batting style: Right-hand bat
Bowling style: Right-arm medium
Playing status: Last put on a Kenyan shirt in the 2015 World Cup Qualifiers at the age of 40. Hasn't played a match since.

Short bio

"Perhaps the only man in cricket with more siblings than Ed Joyce, Lameck Onyango's medium-pace has gradually improved with age. That may not be saying overly much, but he did take four for 29 against Hong Kong last year. Might be worth a punt." - The Author

Star Player #4 - Ajith Ekanayake ($10,000)

556355.html

Full name: Ajith Wijeratne Ekanayake
DOB: October 3, 1965 (Age 49)
Country: :sri: Sri Lanka
Role: Spin bowler
Batting style: Right-hand bat
Bowling style: Slow left-arm orthodox
Playing status: Retired from all cricket since 2012.

Short bio

"You might wonder why anyone would want to sign some random Sri Lankan domestic spinner, but his excellent stats coupled with the fact that he continued to play until he was 46 with no drop in form before finally retiring, suggest that he would be a valuable pick." - The Author

Star Player #5 - Mohammad Tauqir ($10,000)

Full name: Mohammad Tauqir Khan
DOB: January 14, 1972 (Age 43)
Country: :uae: United Arab Emirates
Role: Spin bowler
Batting style: Right-hand bat
Bowling style: Right-arm offbreak
Playing status: Captain of the UAE national side and playing all forms as of 2015.

Short bio

"Tauqir was a controversial selection as Emirati skipper for the World Cup, but he acquitted himself well as his team gained something of a cult following. Despite appearing innocuous, he has a decade of ODI experience to draw upon." - The Author

Star Player #6 - Pravin Tambe ($10,000)

739433.html

Full name: Pravin Vijay Tambe
DOB: October 8, 1971 (Age 43)
Country: :ind: India
Role: Spin bowler
Batting style: Right-hand bat
Bowling style: Right-arm legbreak
Playing status: T20 specialist. Played just the 2 FCs in 2013/14 without much success.

Short bio

"Pravin Tambe was plucked from infirmity obscurity to play for Rajasthan Royals in 2013, and has been one of the most effective Twenty20 bowlers in India ever since, although he struggled in the Ranji Trophy. All the same, he remains at the peak of his powers." - The Author

It's finally time for the star player auction to start. I trust you have all read and understood the guidelines. Also, this is something I should have mentioned over there - please mention your team's name alongside your bid. It always comes in handy.

Former Bermuda skipper David Hemp with a reserve price of $10,000 will be the first player to go under the hammer. Let the bidding begin!

- Before the bidding begins, teams will be offered at reserve price a player they have expressed interest in via private conversation where they were the only team to do so.
What were the results here? I'd need to know whether I got any players that way before putting in a bid for anyone.

There wasn't a single player in Pool A who was being sought after by only one team. They all seem to be very popular for some reason. So, that clause wouldn't work for this pool.

Well, I'll drop in my $16,000 bid then on behalf of the Hugging Muffins for David Hemp.

Turns out I made a slight miscalculation. There is one such player in Pool A whom only one team is interested in, but he's not one of your auction targets. I'll skip to him straight after Hemp.

I think that each team should've been told that You have to buy a player from each pool, so a team doesn't have two players like Lara & Warne, which will certainly make them strong for no reason, and teams wouldn't be able show complete disinterest in Pool A or Pool B players.
