Test matches have been so difficult for me, I never get a good total to attack when the other team bats first. And in the second innings everything collapses for me. I go well in the starting but then I start losing wickets at a very fast pace. And when I put up a total of 400 for a team to chase, they always find a way to get it. Batsmen get ridiculous scores of 200+ and almost all the time gets a century. I thought this game was cheating in some sort of mysterious way but it can't be.I need some help in trying to actually win a test match or draw out the whole series.

I found the same problem, my bowlers go for less runs per over in one day matches, i have yet to win a test. I came close once, i had a lead of 550 going into the final innings with 4 sessions left after bowling them out cheap first innings on a dodgy pitch. 2nd innings they knock the runs off with half an hour left in the day, i was not amused.

bowl to the batsmans weaknesses, so for exaple if he is a back foot legside player, bowl front foot offside. if you change the bowling stratergie often you can get rewards. Also if it is a good batsman, like i can never get Jacques Kallis out, i find that if you bowl around the wicket it helps get them out. If you are playing on a good spinners wicket play 2 or 3 spinners. In my england team i play Loudon, Panesar and Munday (who has got 146 wickets in 23 tests). Just try to persist with the same group of players. I am in the year 2009, and using this tactic i have won all the test series at home and the only series i have lost away is against pakistan which was one of my first series. :)

you should never let a team get 550+ batting last, just pick youre best team and get the basics right

Compo - what are your strategies to stop that from happening though? Field changes, bowler rotation or something else?

I know how to play the game, i bowled to their weakness, there was just no stopping the rampaging cpu. I know i was doing the right things cos i bowled them out for 180 odd first innings, but second innings, well i dont know what happend lol.

Lads there is a strategies thread in the Cricket Games Stories & Strategies forum as a sticky. If you could please post your request for strategies or actual strategies in there.

Use spinners on the last two days alot more than pace as they get 70% of the wickets then. Bowl to the batsmen weaknesses. Never bowl to agressive as you will usually go for runs and not get wickets. Don't bowl tired bowlers (less than half stamina is pretty tired)

does ayone bowl batters during teat matches?

Yes, especially near the end of a session. Usually a spinner for about 4 overs. If there is no wicket, continue with normal bowlers after the break. If there is, continue for a few more overs, just to see what happens. Sometimes works, not all the time.

i try bowling hussey and m.clarke but they dont ever go well

Hussey 23 wickets at 34
Clarke 10 wickets at 13...now 20 wickets at 28

this is in one dayers

Thats decent for Hussey and Clarke - but how many matches/overs have they bowled?
