Almost up to the Super 8 stage with two more days worth of matches to decide the other three spots. No teams confirmed for this group yet.

Teams:
A1 (Most likely Pakistan)/Australia
B2 New Zealand
C1 (Most likely South Africa)/Afghanistan
D2 England

Wow, this will be a top group if the predicted teams eventually qualify for this group. India-Australia and India-England will have top billing. India-Sri Lanka will be excellent too since SL were finalists last time while India were knocked out. Australia-England will be the comeback of the traditional rivalry.

Edit: India in the other group (updated by aussie1st).

Probably Pak, NZ, SA & Eng!
Feel SA & Pak to be favorites for the semis, however both Eng & NZ have a good chance to qualify as well.

I would have said SA and NZ favourites for the semis tbh.

Never know with SA, they are known for their choke in big tournaments. England have looked a lot better this tournament, bowling looks a bit suspect but we haven't really tested that theory due to the rain.

Strong group, especially if Australia get in. SA and NZ might be favorites based on form but anyone could make it. England are probably underdogs on form and Pakistan also due to the disruptions they've faced recently although they did win last time. They have a few weak links in their side but it's T20 so a few good games and they'll be through. It comes down to whether SA can lift and perform and for the other three sides whether the conditions suit them.

England need to stop relying on Morgan. Someone else has to step up. Especially the openers and the opening bowlers.

edit: What's with this seeded crap. What a waste of time the inital group thing is if it doesn't matter if you top the table or not.

Australia can only get in if they lose to Bangladesh and the net run rate works so that Pakistan doesn't get through. And that is unlikely.

And this group is decided now. Any of the teams could qualify on their given day. Pakistan as usual the unpredictable side, if they do turn up they have the players to win the tournament. NZ have a good bowling unit now and their batting looks good, England most T20 balanced and SA have their 2 prong express pace attack.

I know England wont do it. But i'd say drop Yardy & bring in Bopara to bat open with Lumb & drop Kieswetter down @ 3.

While Anderson DEFINATELY has to come in for Sidebottom.

New Zealand and South Africa are the likely bets. But Pakistan are defending champions and before we know, they progress right upto the very end of the tournament. Cant see England past this group though wont be surprised if they qualify.

This time, the top teams of group is not decided by wins but by seeding which is given ICC. So it doesn't matter how many games you win because the group is already decided. NZ are B2 so they will be in this group.

If Pakistan lose to England, how will they fare against NZ or SA? These two are even stronger sides. After this defeat, Pakistan's hope must have taken a big hit.
