Loved Mani Ratnam's "Kadal". I thought it was a very well made commercial entertainer with Mani Ratnam's touches thrown in here and there. Its definitely not a flawless film, but its deftinitely made very entertaining by the performances of Gautham Karthik (WHAT A DEBUT!!!), Arvindsamy and Arjun's power packed performances. And Rahman's music and Rajeev Menon's DOP are real and super highlights.

Worth a watch! 4/5

U'll probably like it.

Contrary to most other people, I really liked the heroine. Of course being her first film, her acting skills were not polished, but in the scenes that she had to emote, she was convincing. Her character was a very childish one, and such characters can evoke mixed reactions from people. The scene where she faces Arjun, she does really well. I like her way better than her sister, Karthiika.

Arvindsamy and Arjun are superb to the core! Both have completely transformed themselves from ordinary heroes to excellent character actors, esp. Arjun. He was very good in Mankatha, and he is excellent here.

Probably vikram's fan. Worth watching jus for his outstanding acting!!

Jiiva's acting was stylish. Vikram was fulltime drunkard in the film, his scenes were mokkai.

Viswaroopam is really well done by Kamal, never expected his direction to be good.

Only really saw Vishwaroopam of all the awaited films that came out in the last month or so, really liked it, hats off to Kamal.

Wow, I guess I am standing out of the crowd this time. I didn't like Vishwaroopam and liked Kadal so much. And most people differ from me on both these films.

Anyways, heard from my friend about rumors of Kamal reviving Marudhunayagam and Rajnikanth also being part of the film. If true, it will be the biggest movie of the decade. This is the right time for Kamal to revive Marudhunayagam and fulfill his dream. He has earned enough attention and eyeballs nationwide due to the controversy on Vishwaroopam, and if Rajnikanth also is a part of the film, Kamal can make it a bilingual (Hindi/Tamil) and release it nationwide and worldwide. And this way, the movie's earning potential goes up above 200+crores. Kamal should think about it. He should live his dream, and also give us a chance to be part of the "Marudhunayagam" epic

I tried, but I still can't get past the initial parts where Kamal plays the effeminate dancer. The Taliban portions and the subsequent New York portions are a big bore IMHO!

I personally did feel the Taliban portions were a bit dragged out, but I don't know what's with me, I can like sit through just about anything and still come out looking at the big picture.

In other news, finally got around to seeing NEP, liked it, it was annoying at times(Nithya in particular), but I got through it all without breaking my TV and what not.

@Epic: Dude, Nithya was EPIC in the film... Her dubbing at times could probably be annoying, but Samantha made a good attempt at it and can improve for sure. I thought Nithya made the film good.
