"We must start of strong by winning the first game. They are a tough team to beat even without the injured Murali for the first game. If we can beat them it can set us up for a good series. We must also take advantage of playing at home, which is not suited to their spinners."

I will update soon with screenies and the result of the first match between England and Sri Lanka.

25 Over update:
England v Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge:
Latest score: 78-4

Story:
Sri Lanka won the toss on a humid cloudy morning at Trent Bridge. The pitch was also green. But Sri Lanka chose to bat, a very strange decision for the conditions. Darren GOugh was the star for England with 3-15 off 5 overs. Flintoff took the 4th wicket, clean bowling Jayawardena for a painstakiing 12 off 51 balls.

Screens below of wickets and scorecards:

More updates after the rest of the Sri Lankan innings.

End of innings update:
Sri Lanka 127 all out 41 overs

Story:
After the 25 overs break, Giles started turning the ball with Flintoff tieing down the other end. Giles ripped through the Sri Lankan middle order, getting drift and turn to confuse the batsman. The other 2 wickets were Dharmasena being stupidly run-out trying to sneak a single to point, and Vaughan took the last wicket by snaring Zoyza around the corner. Pretty straight foraward for England if they bat sensibly.

England win be 3 wickets:

Final score:
Sri Lanka 127ao off 41 overs Giles 4-41
England 128-7 off 16 overs

Story:
England came out after an brilliant bowling performance in a confident mood as there start to their innings showed. Knight and Trescothick hit the Sri Lankans for boundaries before they both got out. Flintoff and Hussian brought the score near 100 before Hussian was dismissed, and it was game over from there. A sudden collapse of wickets came near the end caused by stupid running, England held on though.

Fletcher:

"We are happy to have bowled so well earlier in the day to setup a simple run-chase. Dazza bowled well with the new ball and Giles Cleaned them up. Are batting was good at the begining, but our running was poor. We need to sort that out, but overall I am extremely happy."

MoM: Giles 4-41 & 0no.

Giles:

"I felt I was bowling well today and gaining turn on a non-spinning wicket. I bowled a good line and lenght which I think was the main factor. I just want to carry on this form and help england win the series."

Natwest series table:
P W D L Pts
England 1 1 0 0 3
India 0 0 0 0 0
Sri Lanka 1 0 0 1 0

England vs. India 25 over update:
Current score:
India 65/2 off 25 overs

Story:
England won the toss on a grey, humid day at Lords. They decided to bowl and get India out for a low total like the last game.

England again dominated the opening with brilliant tight bowling against a brilliant Indian batting line-up including Tendulkar, Ganguly, Laxman and Dravid. Gough struck first in the ninth over with a brilliant yorker to uproot Tendulkars middle stump for just 8. Hoggard clamied the other wicket snaring Ganguly Lbw in the 22nd over for a slow, painful 17.

End of innings update:
India 164/9 off 50 overs Gough 5/34

Story:
After a slow 25 overs India began to pick up the pace. Laxman and Dravid put on 70, but Giles broke the partnership and took another wicket. A stupid run-out followed to dismiss Laxman. At 5 down, something amazing happened. Darren Gough, one of Englands best ever fast bowlers, took 4 wickets in an over. He clean bowled Kumble, Badani and Mongia, and Khan caught at deep cover. Another good perfomance by England, another great one from Gough.

End of match update:
India 164-9 off 50 overs
England 168-4 off 17 overs

Story:
England smashed through the Indian bowlers to romp home with 33 overs remaining. Trescothick made a majestic 72 off 39 balls, and Hussian backed him up with a quickfire 43. Another great game for England, who are now odds on to reach the final.

Fletcher:

"We did brilliantly again today. We bowled miraculously against probably the 2nd best batting line up in the world. Dazza was out of this world, taking 4 wickets in an over is just amazing. We batted well aswell, taking India apart. If this form continues we could beat Australia!"

Mom: Darren Gough 5-34

End of match update: (Sri Lanka v India
Sri Lanka: 308-7 off 50 overs
India: 296-7 off 50 overs

Story:
It was a grey, mild day with a damp pitch at trent bridge, low scores looked likely. But no so, as Sri Lanka piled on the runs at 6 runs an over to score over 300, and unlikey target. India never gave up though, but in the end they ran out of steam.
